How does a cheesy, short-lived TV series rate a DVD release? Elementary: It's The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries! This irresistible piece of late-1970s nostalgia is for those who grew up enthralled by Tiger Beat cover boys Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy and Pamela Sue Martin. This two-disc set contains the complete first season, but unlike the series, which alternated the teen sleuths' adventures, all the Hardy Boys episodes are contained on one disc, and the Nancy Drew episodes are on the other. Cult movie and TV aficionados will get a particular kick out of the Nancy Drew episodes, which feature an eclectic roster of future stars (Jamie Lee Curtis and Robert Englund in "The Mystery of the Falling Angels," Mark Harmon in "The Mystery of the Solid Gold Kicker"); venerable character actors (William Schallert, Marjorie Lord, the infamous Bob Crane); and, among those behind the camera, B-movie icon Jack Arnold (The Creature from the Black Lagoon) and babes-and-bullets auteur Andy Sidaris (Malibu Express). The Hardy episodes are, with apologies to the boys' hairstyles, quite shagedelic, despite the rather suspect acting and the obviously studio-bound sets. Who needs the Scooby gang when you've got all-American boys Frank and Joe Hardy creeping through fog-shrouded cemeteries, dangling from cliffs, or foiling a plot on guest star Ricky Nelson.     Wow, this is a throw back to the 70's!

    What a great idea to put both of these shows together in one DVD set. I watched all of the episodes with my seven year old and it was good, clean, fun TV. My favorite episode was a Hardy Boys episode that guest starred Rick Nelson. Rick played a rock star with a private jet. He really dressed the part: platform shoes, fur coat, and lots of money. It is ironic that the story revolved around operation and maintenance of his private jet, and Rick died in a private plane accident.
    The characters are fun. They are supposed to be teenagers, but to me they look older than they should. The characters are also doing things the parents don't know about. I am not sure I like that aspect of the story lines...
    I can't wait to purchase and watch Season Two of these shows. Are there more after that?

    Boomers will enjoy a look back in time

    The story lines stand up to the test of time. It's just an enjoyable relaxing look back in time to the 70's decade. Music is good.

    Awesome

    My mum recently brought me this and I love it so much. I'm a twelve year old girl and really enjoy this mystery suspense dvd set. This is a must for Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy fans!

    Since 2nd grade I've been enthralled by Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys. Out of all the T.V. take-offs "including movies", these are by far the best. The casting is great. Not only do the actors look the part, but they have the right attitudes for their characters. I don't see why the more modern movies have to change the characters-it makes the movies HORRABLE, not better.

    Wonderful

    I love these DVDs and just because the acting is Reese Withersppon qulity doesnt mean it isnt good. They are great exspectially on a stormy night!

    LOved it.Good for any age

    I personaly thought it was outstanding.I am a Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys freak so I absolutly loved it! I recomend it for any young Nancy Drew lover.And also the cheesey outfits where good.
