Overview

Inspired by the frightening true-life tale of a family that moved into a converted funeral home and subsequently fell under supernatural attack, director Peter Cornwell's The Haunting in Connecticut follows the quest of a desperate mother to free her family from the grip of an evil beyond human comprehension. Sara (Virginia Madsen) and Peter Campbell (Martin Donovan) have just moved to Connecticut with their young son, Matt, when the young boy experiences a series of disturbing events that lead him to believe a malevolent force is attempting to take control of his family. Back when the home was still a funeral parlor, the original owner's clairvoyant assistant, Jonah, served as a gateway for restless spirits seeking to cross over into the physical realm. When Jonah returns to unleash a new kind of horror on the innocent family, Sara enlists the aid of enigmatic priest Popescu (Elias Koteas) in driving the evil out before it consumes her son's body and soul. At first it appears that Popescu has been successful in driving the spirits away, but then the terror becomes more intense than ever before.

Although it wasn't as scary as i had expected it to be, this movie was still great. It wasn't a stupid slasher movie, it was very complex and unlike most scary movies, it had a meaning. I would recomend this movie to any lover of scary/thriller movies, or just movies that make you think.

Some very creepy moments. Some of the acting was pretty good.

Now ill say this: horror-not one of of my favorite ypes of movies. but u know i actually...umm....enjoyed? this one! i mean it wasnt as scary during the movie as it was wen u went to bed :) i seriously could not sleep by myself 4 about 3 days! but even then i was afraid if i turned around to face my sister i would see Jonah staring at me :( i did like the movie itself however! it actually had sum meaning instead just mindless killing that seems 2 be crowding movie theaters lately... but ya see it. now.

Horror is not my favorite genre, but I do still enjoy a lot of them. I just saw this one for the first time and thought it was actually pretty good. Some people I know thought it was only "okay" but I thought it was just a little better than that, though not excellent. This movie left me pretty wigged out afterward, and any horror movie that leaves me wigged out is usually a pretty good movie in my opinion. Some of this was rather freaky, indeed. There are a couple of things that pop out at you in it, but most of it is psychological more than anything, after some of the things you see. I think the actors did a superb job, though not quite Oscar performances. It was cool seeing Elias Koteas in this, who I will always know as Casey Jones, from the 1st and 3rd Ninja Turtle movies. Hehe...classic! Overall though, if you like horror films, or ghost/haunting films alone for that matter, and like being a little wigged out, I would recommend buying this movie, or at the very least, renting it and giving it a watch.

O.K. well if you hate scary movies like me you will probally be covering your eyes half of the time. But if you like scary movies and arn't very affraid of them you probaly won't be very freaked out at all. I think this movie tied together pretty well in end. I would give it a chance and watch it though.
