Don't make fans of The Incredible Hulk TV series angry. You wouldn't like them when they're angry. So this four-disc set makes amends for the heretofore piecemeal home video release of this 1970s cult favorite. It contains the first two feature-length pilot episodes also available separately that established the series' mythology as well as all ten Season 1 episodes. Hulk, a world apart from the camp pleasures of Batman, is more a kindred spirit to The Fugitive as David Banner Bill Bixby, the gamma ray-blasted doctor, embarks on a quest to find a cure that would control the "startling metamorphosis" that transforms him into the pumped-up, green smashing machine embodied by Lou Ferrigno whenever he becomes enraged. Banner, falsely accused of a murder he did not commit, is presumed dead. Playing Lt. Gerard to his Richard Kimball is Jack McGee Jake Colvin, a relentless investigative reporter determined to prove the Creature's existence. In each episode, Banner, traveling incognito, is compelled to come to the aid of a stranger being threatened, framed, or otherwise menaced. Becoming the Hulk does have its advantages, such as when you're hog-tied in a car about to be demolished "Of Guild, Models and Murder" or in the process of being buried alive "The Hulk Breaks Las Vegas". But it is usually just inconvenient, as when Banner struggles to control the beast within as he tries to land an airplane whose crew has been drugged in "747," an excellent episode also notable for reuniting Bixby with his Courtship of Eddie's Father costar Brandon Cruz. While the music and special effects are somewhat on the cheesy side, Banner's transformations make for iconic television.

christmas gift to my twin brother with Down's Syndrome

I didn't know what to get my twin brother, who has Down's Syndrome, for Christmas this past year. I saw the Hulk Season 1 and remembered how he loved watching this growing up and loves watching the movies. He was absolutely thrilled! He's always a happy guy, but this really made his Christmas! Our mother says he watches about 1 or 2 episodes per week. I definitely plan to get the next couple seasons for him shortly!

    T. V.'s Greatest Accomplishment

No more SciFi edited episodes! No more Ang Lee! No more complaints about the Hulk being a bodybuilder in makeup! I am the biggest Hulk fan that ever lived since the pilot episode in 78. My home is overrun with memorabilia and my bankaccount is dry over my obsession with this character along with others in the Marvel universe. But in the television medium, nothing compares to the first season. I never understood what took so long for Universal to accomodate fans like myself, by releasing such a great show. I was at Best Buy the day it was released and im ready for season 2,3,4, extc. I realize my age when discussing this show to people who are unaware, but i can't deny the cold chills i get in the dramatic opening sequence. R.I.P. Bill Bixby. It was a blessing you changed your mind about taking this role. I would also thank Kenneth Johnson for stepping on Stan Lees toes in making this series with a more realistic, dramatic approach. I waited 26 years to own the first season, and laid out of work to watch it all day. 5 stars. One complaint would be more special features, like when Bill and Lou were on the Mr. Rogers show, gag reels, behind the scenes footage, putting the makeup on, effects secrets, commercials, extc. Im satisfied with this despite the crappy toy lines, terrible movie, and jumbled box sets. Awesome.
