    Well paced action

Director Tom Tykwer creates a suspenseful and well paced drama with The International. Clive Owen and Naomi Watts are among my favorite actors and they're cool to watch here. Naomi Watts is always great.

A FABULOUS THRILLER WITH SMART VISUAL EFFECTS

I believe that Tom Tykwer is somewhat underrated as a film director. I've seen three of his other films and I'm always fascinated by the kind of visual presentation of storytelling that he comes up with. I can't say that I was really impressed by the dramatic elements of this film even though I believe the film was well cast. That was about my only complaint. The various locations of this film are simply exotic and the action scenes are thrilling to say the least. I like the way the story moves visually and how it stimulates one to think about our world.

    Clive's Exception

If it takes an exception to prove a rule, this film is the one that proves Clive Owen movies are fun to watch. I don't know why, really. I like Clive Own. Naomi Watts isn't bad, and the other actors don't do a rotten job.

The script is mildly interesting. I kind of like spy-type movies in European settings. There's some action, to boot.

Maybe it's the directing. Maybe it's the editing. Whatever it is, this movie doesn't have it.

I bought this movie because B&N was having a sale, and I like Clive Owen films. I gambled and lost. For a film where I gambled and won, see "Shoot Em Up".
