Loved "The Invaders" with Roy Thinnes when I was but a young alien back in '67. I still love it now. The Season 1 and Season 2 DVD collections have been long anticipated by boomer fans like myself, are finally here and thankfully well produced with some interesting features and detailed interviews with series star Thinnes. I remember the series as being well written, directed and acted...seeing the shows 40 plus years hence doesn't disappoint. Compared against today's Computer Generated Images and slick effects the "alien tech" of "The Invaders" may seem a bit like the Alien Interlopers raided the Earth's Ace Hardware Stores on their way to world conquest but the best special effect has always been and always will be a good actor with a good script and the series delivers this for most of its' episodes. As Thinnes himself admits, Season 2 (and the final season) tends to be weaker as a whole. Season 1 slides the paranoia control up to high with the lonely David Vincent desperately traveling the country as both hunter and hunted in his surreal but all too real living nightmare. Vincent is a 20th century Paul Revere, but unlike Revere everyone thinks Vincent is coc-coo or if they do make nice, they often turn out to be Aliens who want to treat Vincent to a cerebral hemmorage. By Season 2 there are a group of "Believers" who join Vincent and this somewhat dilutes the effectivess of the series spine. Other than that, this original "Aliens are among us and they suck" thriller is still alot of fun and it delivered the goods long before "The X Files" series was even a twinkle in Chris Carter's eye. I give it two deformed pinky fingers up! Enjoy! ...Tim Anderson, Princeton, NJ.
