Overview

Dame Judi Dench is one of the most celebrated stars of stage and screen. She is the winner of an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, seven Olivier Awards (the most by any individual) for her work on London's stages, and numerous BAFTAs for her roles in film and television. At the BBC, she has appeared in a dazzling range of material from sitcoms to Shakespeare. This collection celebrates Dench's career on BBC in ten star-studded productions spanning four decades, including: an hour-long production of Georges Feydeau's farce Keep an Eye on Amelie (1978); Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts ('86) with Kenneth Branagh, Michael Gambon and Natasha Richardson; Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard (1980) with John Gielgud, Peggy Ashcroft and Ian Holm; the four-part Talking to a Stranger ('66); playing the wife to real-life husband Michael Williams in Can You Hear Me Thinking? ('90); in Harold Pinter's Langrishe, Go Down ('78), alongside Jeremy Irons and Pinter; co-starring together with Francesca Annis, Bill Nighy and Ray Winstone in Absolute Hell ('91); and more. Tucked away among the bonus features is a 1996 interview in which she sings "Send in the Clowns" from her Olivier-winning performance in A Little Night Music, just one of the many gems in this set, which honors one of the greatest performers of our time.
