All Movie Guide
This singular mix of kung-fu, blaxploitation, family film, and music video may seem unwieldy in theory but it is actually quite entertaining. Louis Venosta's script periodically overdoses on goofball humor but makes up for this with plenty of imagination and enthusiasm and Michael Schultz's assured direction deftly blends the humor, action, and music with style. The score, supervised by Motown veteran Willie Hutch, occasionally overdoes its '80s production quirks (drum machines, blooping synthesizers, etc.) but delivers plenty of soulful punch in the film's plentiful action set pieces. In terms of performances, Taimak doesn't exactly have the presence of Bruce Lee but his comic timing is solid and Vanity is surprisingly confident and poised as the sexy damsel in distress. However, the scene-stealing work comes from Julius J. Carry III's rip-snorting performance as Sho Nuff (imagine Rick James as a kung-fu expert) and Christopher Murney's scenery-chewing work as frustrated mogul Eddie Arkadian. In the end, The Last Dragon may be a little too dated and squeaky-clean for action enthusiasts, but its period charms and genial humor are guaranteed to entertain those nostalgic for the '80s.

    A Martial Arts Love Story

    I love this movie. Besides all of the Bruce Lee movies being my #1 favorites, this is my #2 favorite martial arts movie. The moves are so smooth and all the actors played their parts very well. I am purchasing this movie so I can watch it when ever I want. A very good movie to purchase. I give it 5 stars plus.

    The Greatest

    I absolutely love this movie. This is one of those movies that will never go out of fashion. Everyone should see The Last Dragon at least one. It is an absolute classic.

    A Classic for all times

    A great movie for all times, you can't beat it. I will continue to watch this movie until I am an old man. Been watching it since I was a kid and can't get enough of it.

    Old School

    The movie is great! I watch it over andover and it keeps getting better! This is one of the old school movies that everyone will love. If you don't have it then you should get it.

    My favorite martial art movie

    The last dragon has been one of my favorite movies since I first remember watching it. I was just a little girl then, but know I am a 28 year old woman I still feel the same way about this movie. I'm so happy they now have this movie on dvd. I used to wait until they showed it on cable. My husband and I used to set the alarm clock if we fell asleep to watch this movie, if it came on a cable channel wee hours in the morning. What a great movie.

    FUN, DECENT FILM

    THIS MOVIE IS ACTUALLY APPROPRIATE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN TO SEE. I LOVED THE MARTIAL ARTS AND 'SHO NUFF' WAS HILARIOUS.

    Pure GOLD

    All I can say is this is one of the all around best movies ever. I freaking love this movie! Great weird lost music of the 80's, black people acting like chinese people, chinese people acting like black people, breakdancing, buddhism, brawling and some of the most fun comic books styled characters ever: SHO-NUF! Eddie Arcadian! Bruce LeRoy! SUM-DUM-GOY! How can anyone not love this movie?

    One of the BEST movies ever made!!!!!!

    This was probably one of the funniest movies I've ever seen in my life!! Bruce LEE-roy is sooooo SEXY and hot!! I also LOVE the songs: especially ''The Rhythm Of The Night'' by Debarge. Shonuff is probably the stupidest rival in a movie besides Evillene from The Wiz! I can't wait to watch it again and again. It diffinately goes down in HIStory (sorry I LOVE Michael Jackson and that's why the history is spelled that way) in my eyez because Taimak and Vanity make a great on- screen couple!! IT IS TRULY ONE OF THE BEST!!!

    How Great The Last Dragon Really Is

    I think The Last Dragon is the best movie from the 80's. Taimak is a total hottie and I like the songs, too. Especially Vanity's 'Seventh Heaven' song. My mom says I'm obsessed with it because I wanna watch it everyday.

    Got the Glow?

    Classic culture melding film puts young warrior, evil master, pop-celebrities, arch-villians, and great period tunes into a 1980's era kung-fu fighting, spiritual, and musical masterpiece.

    He's No Corn Ball !! Thats My Brotha',,,,,,And He's The Master!

    This is my favorite of all favorite 80's classic movies. As a kid you always wanted a hero and Bruce Lee Roy was who you discovered. His Kung Fu was raw, he lived in New York, and he had one of the finest girls of the decade (Vanity). Its full of action, comedy and music. Viewers out there, you wont be disappointed. I Guarantee It!! People always asked me what is my favorite movie, and ''The Last Dragon'' flows off my tongue fluently. Watching it now during our new decade kind of hurts you because you reminisce on the past and how much fun you had during that era.

    'The art of fighting without fighting'

    Being a great fan of the blaxploitation movie I have to place The Last Dragon into the genre which has tickled me over the years. The first time I was fortunate to view Shonuff, Bruce Leroy(Green)and the rest of those crazy kids I was barely 10 yrs old and am pleased to say that I viewed the movie quite recently and to my surprise wasn't dissapointed, I mean come on it has all the classic elements of the mid-80s, breakdancing, ghetto blasters and of course Converse (Kiss the converse). The soundtrack is fantastic and is as rare as rocking horse s**t! My friend who lent me the movie also has the soundtrack on vinyl I thought christmas was in December not August. I feel that the movie could rival The Godfather, Citizen Caine etc, if there were more mullets, leg warmers and possibly a rubix cube, but hey who am I to Judge atleast we got converse for our money. ps - Whos the master - Shonuff!

    Black Martial Arts at its Best

    The last dragon is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best martial arts movies out there. It has a good cast and it is a pretty good comedy for the whole family to watch.

    WHO'S THE MASTER? BRUCE LEROY SHONUFF!!!

    the last dragon is a movie that i still look forward to seeing. it's one of the best martial art movies ever made! to me it shows that anyone with a good heart is capable of having THE GLOW. wish i had the clothes that Tamik wore in the movie. i really love the Chinese style. without a doubt, THE LAST DRAGON is the best movie ever made!! AIN'T THAT RIGHT? SHONUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Berry Gordy's ''The Last Dragon''

    I don't know if it was intentional but this ws a very funny movie, very gifted black martial artist is so far into his art he seems to feel he is Chinese, and of course the villain ... ''The Shogun of Harlem'' Shonuff crazy hair, crazy outfits, crazy followers ... good movie

    Bruce Leroy? BRUCE LEROY???

    KISS MY CONVERSE, sho'nuff, now he was the master. the dopest red and black converse in the world.this movie is worth every penny, plus that. Taimak is excellent in this movie, granted it was his debut film, and he only did 2 others, thats ok. He's still the new master, with the full body glowwwwww. But this movie should have really been about, sho'nuff, AM I THE MEANEST, AM I THE BADDEST, AM I THE PRETTIEST,SHO'NUFF. alright he may not have been the prettiest , but man he was the baddest and the meanest, and he definately had the acting skills. vanity is in the movie, dont much like her, and the debut music video for De Barge-Ryhthm Of The Night was in the movie, and first debuted on a recording, for the soundtrack to last dragon. this movie is awesome, im only 19, BUT I KNOW WHO THE MASTER IS, SHO'NUFF

    Who's the Master!!!!
