    US A&E edited version (not the complete BBC version)

    My rating is based on the reduced footage from the original series and is not related to the cast performance in the miniseries. The miniseries is recommended for viewing, however I include some caveats with this version. The USA broadcast of Charles II was edited from the original 233 minutes down to 188 minutes. If you wish to see a more complete version of the miniseries, you will see it by getting the BBC DVD of "Charles II - The power and passion" (the UK version in region 2 coding) and NOT the "Last King" version. The other DVD version is not available in Region 1 (USA) format and will require either a non-region DVD player or a computer with a video program player that ignores region coding. You can find copies of that version on other sites like Amazon. The A&E version is more "sanitized" than the BBC UK version (several topless scenes were removed). If you want to see the entire complete series, get the BBC UK Region 2 DVD. Otherwise, this USA Region 1 program will be missing about 45 minutes of footage.
