The Legend of 1900Director: Giuseppe Tornatore
Tim Roth stars in the period piece The Legend of 1900. The film is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and looks very nice. While a few spots of edge enhancement pop up from time to time, overall this is a pleasing transfer with sharp colors and dark black levels. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround as well as DTS 5.1 Surround in English. Each of these soundtracks are very lush and beautiful with the music being the most prominent cue in the surround feature. With crystal clear dialogue, effects and music, both the Dolby 5.1 and DTS track are well worth the listen. No alternate subtitles are included on this disc. The extra features on The Legend of 1900 are small but nice -- included on this disc is an isolated audio track of composer Ennio Morricone's score, a music video for the song "Lost Boys Calling," some text and photo galleries, trailers and filmographies.

the only think i can say about this movie is amazing. everything about this movie was so well done. the acting i the best ive seen in years, and the music is great. i think that this i one of the best movies to have ever come out in a while.
Acting first rate ,photography superb. I sat for the entire two hours not able to barely move- one of the most gripping movies I have seen. Thumbs up to 1900 and to Max as well- the score was tremendous as well.
this was one of the best written and perfectly portrayed films i have ever seen. a friend once told me that the difference between a good movie and a great movie is whether you can see the actor or the character when you watch it. i didn't see tim roth; i saw 1900. legend of 1900 is absolutely perfect!!
I found myself so lost in the movie that I was actually disappointed that it had to end. Each character was perfectly cast. The musical score could not have been done any better. So wonderful you'll never be tired of watching it.
I was thrilled to discover a movie by the same director of my all time favorite film Cinema Paradiso. Fearing that no movie could compare, I was skeptical to say the very least. In a word, I found myself completely entranced from the opening scene that took my breath away to one of the most whimsical scenes ever filmed featuring a baby grand piano in a leading role. A stunning film, a story line that tugs at every emotion you hold most dear, and characters that touch the softest spot in your heart.
This must be one of the finest, most interesting, original and amusing movies ever made, with something for everyone. It features a magnificent score, superb acting, an incredible set and by far, one of the most unusual stories ever told. It is gripping and a must see for any age. I loved this film and have watched it over and over with the same satisfaction. Don't miss this gem.
Over all I thaught the movie was great and I loved it its not that often that I see a movie quiet like this one. This is a movie that really hits home its not one that you just say hay it was good and then forget about it. This is oone that you think about for a long time and when you just get it out of your head you think about and it drives you crazey because you liked it so much.
The Legend of 1900 is a very vigorous dramatic, and remarkable film. I?ve seen it 7 times, and still I cry. The music, Jazz, Big Band, and Classical they all just take you breath away. This movie touched my heart, and soul, and I hope that it will touch yours too.
A rare find not to be missed. If you enjoy piano and jazz, the soundtrack is mesmerizing, sometimes haunting, and always breathtaking. The camera angles, the touching moments (especially at the very beginning when he's selling the trumpet), and the development of the characters make this one of the very few movies that I have purchased (the soundtrack too!).
I have seen this movie numerous times and it still rattles me to tears every time. This movie warms my heart in such a way that it takes me days to recover. The story and actors are incredible, especially Tim Roth. I never pictured him a roll like this but he played it immaculately. I do not beleive anyone else could have played his part any better. He is a master. The movie has moved me in a way none has ever done. It is my favorite now and I shall watch it over & over again and never tire...
I was on a plane trip to TWN and was disappointed I slept through a movie I wanted to see. The Legend of 1900 was on instead. After watching the movie, I was blown away. I couldn't help telling all my coworkers that they HAD to see the movie. I normally don't like serious movies, but this one was incredible. The music is amazing. The acting was great. As a guy, I normally like action flicks or comedies, but this was a winner. I've bought 5 movies in my life... this one one of them.
I am a lover of all movies...but i truly enjoy idependents and actors/actresses of independents one of my favorite actors is Tim Roth..who is called the idependent king.. Idependents is where the great movies are. This movie is one of the few movies that is a little known gem. Mainstream auidences may not know this movie but anyone who is a avid of idependent films knows this movie. This is an amazing story of an incredible pianist who never sets foot on land..this virtuoso's name is Novecento (1900) for he was found on january 1, 1900 by a steamliner mechanic who raises him as his own who names him after the year he finds him. He is hidden by the world...but 1900's true passion is Music the piano ...here on the ship he teaches himself to play the piano by ear...amazing he can play the piano without being able to read the notes. The pianist story is told by max tooney Novocento's trumpet player..he tells the tale of his good friend a pianst so incredible his fame goes beyond the ship...and becomes a legend...the legend of 1900. this movie is beautifuly told, it's a movie that will make you laugh, cry and believe in Tim Roth the legend of 1900.
i came across this while looking to take my mind off something. this film was so beautiful both visually and musically. i have always loved tim roth and once again he doesn't dissapoint.
My family brought this movie when they came to visit. I didn't especially want to watch but I fell in love with it. So when a scratch on the DVD prohibited us from watching the last 1/4 of the movie I drove 45 miles to the nearest place that had it so we could watch the end. It is fantastic.
One of the greatest movies I have ever viewed. Up there with Citizen Kane but much more entertaining. The photography is excellent as well as the acting, directing, and score. I was very surprise that it had not won every award given. A MUST SEE!!!
I absolutely agree with ev'ryone who's shattered by this movie, just saw it on Finnish Television, got to get the DVD!!!
When I first saw this movie in my local video shop, I tought ''Yeah, wright!'', because Tim Roth wasnt one of my favorite actors and he never had a god movie accept Pulp fiction and Reservoir dogs. Then I saw the movie, and I lost the words, the movie is great, and Tim Roth became, since then, one of my favorite actors.I hope that other people will find time to watch the movie.
I saw this movie in Italian three years ago before it was even available in the United States, and I fell in love with it the first time because of the music. When I finally got an English cut of the movie, the true beauty of this movie was as sobering as a slap with a cold hand in the waking hours of a hot day. Magnificent.
This is the best movie you'll ever see and you may find that you will want to watch it more than just once. If you like a very good story that you will never forget, this one is IT! Everyone that my husband and I have given this movie to as a gift, has really enoyed it! We have yet to find one person that hasn't been moved by it. It has some excellant piano playing in it and the duel that takes place is tops!!
