Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Fairies and nymphs and pixies -- oh my! This enchanting animated adaptation of a lesser-known tome from Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum features the voice of Robbie Benson as Nicholas, an abandoned baby raised by a wood nymph (Dixie Carter). The good-hearted youth despairs of the "great unhappiness in the human world" and discovers that "making toys for children is what I was meant to do" -- setting the stage for what might be one of the most important lives in children's lore. You might even call this the Citizen Kane among Santa stories -- although fortunately for the kids, it has a much happier ending.
