Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Little Bear answers the call of the wild in this thoughtfully written, beautifully illustrated, and exquisitely animated adventure. Based on the characters in Else Homelund Minarik and Maurice Sendak's books, this tale finds Little Bear and Father Bear on a camping trip, where Little Bear meets a wilderness dweller named Cub. A veritable babe in the woods, Little Bear is quite taken with Cub, who comes home to spend the night -- opting to sleep under Little Bear's bed because it reminds him more of his cave. When Cub reveals that he was separated from his parents, Little Bear organizes a search party with his friends Owl, Duck, and Cat. Leisurely paced and 75 minutes in length, the movie remains mostly true to the gentle spirit of Minarik's stories. In a momentary departure from the warm and fuzzy tone of the Nick Jr. series, though, the characters face minor peril in the menacing form of a mountain lion, which purrs ominously. But don't worry: This is just the sort of thing Cub handles with aplomb. Along with all the sweet-natured adventure and subtle messages for kids, adults will savor the soundtrack, which features Sean Colvin performing two lovely songs -- "Great Big World" and "Everybody Wants to Paint My Picture."

    Mesmerizing

My two and half year old loves Little Bear, and this movie has him mesmerized. It flows nicely, holds his attention, and is never boring. He is glued to the screen the entire movie, and cries when it is over. I highly recommend for any Little Bear fans!

    A Must for Little Ones

Nearly enjoyed Little Bear's movie as much as my granddaughter. Now, we can't get enough of the little guy. LB is a character with whom a child can easily identify, and who reflects character and high moral values... without much of the noise and flash thrown at little ones by most of today's animation.

Over and over we play this movie

My 3 year old cannot get enough of this movie. We have checked it out so many times at the library that we finally decided to buy it to avoid her getting disappointed when the library copy is out. Very cute with good messages and a catchy song sung by Shawn Colvin.

    Uplifting animated movie

Our 2-year old considers Little Bear to be his favorite movie. It contains no scenes that frighten him. The only 'down' segment is when Cub 'loses' his parents. They are soon reunited with Cub, thanks to Little Bear and friends. MKillen
