Overview

Peter Ho-Sun Chan's The Love Letter comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. There are no subtitles on this release. Supplemental materials include talent bios, production notes, a theatrical trailer, and deleted scenes. The solid picture and sound may help this film find an audience, something it failed to do in theaters, possibly because it opened against Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

The setting was nice, the bookstore, etc. Story sounds alright. Might read the book. The movie was okay. The locations were good. Loved Ellen in this.

I bought this video thinking it would be a great comedy. Though it has some comic elements, the overall plot is weak. The humor on the whole is very crude. The reactions to the unsigned love letter are so silly one wonders if the town really needed it in the first place for everyone to jump into bed together. The end did not even resolve the plot...it leaves you wondering... The redemption of the movie is a delightful performance by Juliane Nicholson. My suggestion: buy ''You've Got Mail.''

This movie is cleaver and subtle in humor. It does not have the obvious 'laughs' but is well done and includes a cast that reminds us of the humor that lives in small towns across America.

A sweet and kind twist with funny people and beautiful views. Always makes me smile when I watch it.
