Overview

Moving back to Wednesdays after a year on CBS' Monday-night lineup, The Nanny inaugurates its third season, offering 27 episodes this year. Fran Drescher continues to head the cast as Fran Fine, the cheekily vulgar nanny in the veddy-proper Manhattan household of widowed Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield Charles Shaughnessy and his three growing children. Although Sheffield's female business partner, C.C. Laura Lane, has not given up her efforts to strong-arm Maxwell into marriage, it is clear that the master of the Sheffield house is falling in love with Fran. Indeed, in the season-ending finale, Maxwell not only takes Fran along on a business trip to Paris, but also stammers out those three magic words, "I love you" -- just as the "To be continued" title crashes on the screen. In other developments, Fran briefly moves out of the Sheffield town house and into an apartment with her best friend, Val Rachel Chagall; Maxwell's imperious mother, Elizabeth Dina Merrill, sweeps into town, immediately demanding that her son dismiss his nanny; Maxwell's shy daughter Maggie Nicholle Tom turns sweet sixteen; and in the series' animated-cartoon Christmas episode, "Oy to the World, the leading actors provide the characters' voices in a helter-skelter North Pole fantasy. As in previous seasons, several guest stars appear as "themselves" during The Nanny's third season, among them Elizabeth Taylor, Alex Trebek, Jay Leno, Dr. Joyce Brothers, Eartha Kitt, Burt Bacharach, tennis champ Monica Seles, fashion designer Todd Oldham, the cast of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and even "presidential brother" Roger Clinton. Most amusingly, Marvin Hamlisch also shows up -- not as himself, but as a fellow who happens to look like Marvin Hamlisch! Breaking into the Top 20 TV programs for the first time this year, The Nanny closed out its third season as America's 16th most-watched series.

    Gotta Love Fran

I am truly a Fran Drescher Fan. What I have liked about all the seasons they have put out so far in addition to this season, is that the whole cast continues to be hilarious. You see each character grow closer together to one another particularly the kids with Fran and Fran and Mr. Shefield's relationship! They definately left you wanting to run out and get Season 4. I miss classic comedies like this one that the whole family can watch since it encourages the a family being united. It is difficult to find that these days in hollywood. And you gotta love Fran's fashionable outfits. This show had a star cast and was truly funny and fun to watch. You will want to add it to your library. I am eagerly waiting for Season 4!

The BEST sitcom in TV history!

"The Nanny" is one of the classics from the '90s!! If you're a fan of the classic sitcoms like "FRIENDS" and "Seinfeld", then this is a must-buy!! Please buy it, because sales need to be high to push Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to release Season 4 soon. I have waited for season 3 for 3 years since I bought Season 2 !! I just love Fran and the entire cast sooo much!! Fran Drescher, Charles Shaughnessy, Daniel Davis, Lauren Lane, Nicholle Tom, Benjamin Salisbury, Madeline Zima, Renee Taylor, Ann Morgan Guilbert, and Rachel Chagall !! They're all geniusly hilarious and Emmy-worthy!!

"The Nanny: The Complete Third Season" will bring so much refreshing classic comedy into people's lives in depressing times!! =) Please buy this to push Sony to release seasons 4, 5, and 6 !! =)

    finally here/ poor packaging

The Nanny season 3 has Fine-ally (pun intended) arrived on DVD. Sadly the packaging is not exactly ideal. The set comes in a standard DVD case with all three discs stacked on top of one another on a single spindle. This leaves the discs unprotected and more likely to become scratched. I have mine stored in some slim cases until I can find a better solution. Here's hoping Sony won't make us wait 3 years for Season 4.

    The Nanny

THe Nanny (Fran Drescher) is hilarious and extremely humorous. She's the "I Dream Of Jeanie" of the nineties and present, in her travesies and funny dealings with her consorts, confederates,or adversaries. I would highly recommnend the series for those days of languid and somber moods. The settings and cinematography are very stylish in the acting, embellishments, and habiliments as seen in the sitcom.

If you liked the show when it was on TV, you'll love the DVD's! I have all 3 seasons that are available right now, awaiting the fourth to be released! A lot of laughs; the butler has some really great lines. If you want a comical escape from the every day routine, grab a snack, a chair and enjoy!!

    Faulty Discs Disrupt Viewing Pleasure

Fran Drescher is fabulous as is her supporting cast. The discs, however, froze up in specific places. This occurred at the same places on subsequent replays and on different DVD players. Also, Season 3 is badly packaged with all three discs stacked on each other in one case. Seasons 1 & 2 had the discs packaged each in its own case. The series is great and worth recommending, although the freezing up in a few places was quite annoying.

    The Nanny Season 3

This can be an education video as it touches on some sensitive topics where the daughters of the widowed dad do not feel comfortable talking to their dad about the problems so they talk to their nanny. It also has some very funny things in it as well. I just all around love the show and really enjoy watching it. My husband also enjoys the show to. We can watch it more than just the one time as well.

    Finally

It took a very long time for this one to come out. I enjoyed it as much as the first 2 seasons. The last episode on this is part 1 of the flight from Paris where Mr. Sheffield tells Fran he loves her then takes it back. Unfortunately you have to wait until 4th season comes out to remember the 2nd part. It also had another one of my favorite episodes when Val gets a boyfriend and Fran goes to dinner with C.C. and has her first taste of wasabi. Can't wait for the next one, hope it doesn't take as many years to release it.
