The Odd Couple II

Overview

Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon return to the roles that made them famous in Neil Simon's The Odd Couple II. The film is presented in 2.35:1 non-anamorphic widescreen and appears to be in better-than-average shape. While it's disappointing to see this film lacking an anamorphic enhancement, overall the colors and black levels are solid and very well defined and even. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English, as well as Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround in English and French. The 5.1 mix on this disc does a fine job of representing what the film needs in terms of directional effects. The Surround sounds are subtle with all of the speakers kicking in whenever composer Alan Silvestri's upbeat music arises. All aspects of the mix are free of any excessive hiss or distortion. Also included on this disc are English and Spanish subtitles. Comedy fans will be frustrated to see that the only extra feature available on this disc is a theatrical trailer for the film.
