I saw this movie years ago at the theater, i love it.. this is one of the movies that i will never forget... i am really blessed!

As an example of great film making this is it. Mel Gibson has presented a powerful film with outstanding performances by the cast. I am not a Christian and can appreciate the masterful presentation of a religions core belief brought to life on the screen. Christianity is not Christianity with out the centerpiece of Jesus’ passion. The violence does what it is supposed to do, give the viewer a visceral reaction, unlike so many other films in which violence is nothing but a cartoon with out any real connection to the pain and suffering the characters feel. Yes the film is also anti-Semitic and that is because the entire New Testament is anti-Semitic and the Gospel the film is based on is John and this is the most anti-Semitic of all the gospels. Before all the Christian out there complain, read you history the entire idea of Christianity is to supplant Judaism with Christianity therefore destroying the Jewish people.

This movie is the most accurate account of what the Holy Bible and Christians all over the world hold to be true and righteous. You were compelled from the moment the film began until the closing credits. Thank God for using the media to portray a glimpse into what the times were like. Thank you Mel Gibson for allowing yourself to be used. This movie is not for the 'faint at heart'. It deals with the real torture that our Christ had to suffer. Let's get ready saints!

This is the most beautiful Love Story for man kind. Everyone alive should see this movie and see how Christ died so that we could be saved.

The Best Movie Ever Made About Jesus Christ ! ! !

Thank you Mel Gibson & your staff, for making the best movie about Christ. I seen the Passion 3 times at the cinema. It wasn't enough, I know when I get the DVD I will watch it countless times. Each time I seen The Passion it felt like I never seen it before. I learned something new everytime. The Passion is a movie of epic proportions, a very artistic movie and one that makes you feel that you are actually there with Christ. Not just someone in a theater. The actors are outstanding. The Passion is a movie I wish everyone in the whole universe could see. Christ paid a really big price to forgive us for our sins. I also want to say that the original soundtrack is wonderful. The Passion changed me & everyone I spoke to that seen it too. The movie really touched me in ways I can't explain. The Passion is my favorite movie of all time. When you see The Passion for yourself you'll see why I feel that way. Most likely you'll cry a little maybe even a lot. That's okay because, if you look around you'll notice there's hardly a dry eye in the house. Just about everybody has tears running down their face too. I mean this movie is a MASTERPIECE. I really can't say enough things about this movie. It is so convincing. I just love it. Hollywood was scared to make this movie, but that didn't stop Mel Gibson the genius. This movie came together at a time when it was really needed. It even moved up to number one again the weekend of Easter at the box office. That is a statement in it self. I hope the Oscars are ready for the Passion, because it will be the biggest winner in Oscar history, with nominations and wins. Mel could you include a lot of special features in the DVD, you know like interviews, make-up, wardrobe, set designs, the extras, etc. By the way I expect The Passion to be the biggest selling DVD of all time. Credit to Mel Gibson for having the b*lls to show the extreme br

Credit to Mel Gibson for having the b*lls to show the extreme brutality that Jesus - or, I suppose, any other prisoner of the day - endured. The human condition must've been rather miserable, by today's standards, for everyone, never mind a condemned criminal.

Highly Recommended

The Passion of The Christ represents the love He has for those that killed. They didn't know they were fulfilling the prophecy and that it had to be done. Not by their will, but God's. The movie was played out very well.

Great movie

I would watch other Jesus movies on TBN channel but when I watched Passion of the Christ. I felt Jesus pain the next day I cried this movie did help and made me realize something's that I was going through when I was a kid. Thanks! Mel Gibson I love the Bible the book my favorite mostly.

It is the best depiction of what Christ had to suffer during the last twelve days of his life.

I have seen most of the movies made of Christ. This movie takes the suffering to a whole other level. If you are a Christian you can identify with movie. If you are not it will have you ask more questions of who Christ was.

A Reminder

A great movie to remind you of what God did for us and what hia Son had to go through because of his love for us. Great for diacusasion and especially powerful during Lent

This memorable film portrays the last day of Jesus Christ. The beating and crucifixion of Jesus is particularly gory. It boasts a great performance by Jim Caviezel who plays Jesus. But this is not a feel good movie. It's more of a sick feeling in the core of your being type of film, because Christian or not, it's not fun to watch someone get tortured.

Not historically accurate.

Gibson was forced to delete scenes relating to the influence of the Jewish priests & Jesus's subsequent crusifiction. Also, death by crusifiction results in dislocation of arm joints resulting in even more pain on the part of the victim.

Thought provoking

This is the amazing presentation to tell story of the most important event in history. It evokes many different feelings for Jesus Christ...all over-whelming. Watching it as the story unfolds, you can't help but feel sadness and anger. This is the truest version of the Passion that I have ever seen or heard about. I recommend it for anyone and everyone.

Best movie ever that showes how much God loves us and what He went through to save those who believe in Him

This is the most Biblically correct movie ever made, read your Bible and you'll see what I'm talking about. It is so graphic I would not recommend it for pre-teen, early teens or non-Christians. They could and most likely would misinterpret the message and see it as just another bad blood and guts 'B' movie. For Christians that know their Bible and think they know what our Lord and Savior went through so we can be with Him in heaven, this is a MUST SEE movie. Here in the modern free world we have been so sanitized to our own brutality we tend to gloss over the horrors of what Jesus went through for all of us. It is a shame that not all except the free gift Jesus has for all men and women.

Brutal

This film was extremely brutal and violent. I understand why I just didn't like to see it. I do not agree with the earlier preview about it being anti-sematic. I did not see that at all. It is a must see, but prepare yourself for the brutality of it.

a review of a film not a discussion of disputed theology

@the anamous review that stated that the film is an example of excellent film making. I agree with you. However your ending comments about Chritianity being anti-semetic? I wanted to clarifiy what it means to be such, the hatred and hostility towards the Jewish people. While the fact that the Jewish religious leaders of the time persueded the Roman authority to have Jesus executed does not mean its anti semetic, not all Jews, seeing how Jesus was a Jew and his disciples etc... Wanted Jesus dead. Paul, an aposotle of Christianity, also a Jew who was in the religious Hierarchy before becoming a Christian clearly stated you don't cease to be a Jew when you become a Chrisitian even though in Christ there is no segregation. Christ stated he didnt come to abolish the Law, that which observent Jews follow, but fullfill it. The Jews who didnt or dont become Christians didnt or dont believe Jesus was the Messiah prophisied about, but Christians do. Christianity is a Jewish offshoot not a subverting belief.

Too much beating

The movie is punctuated by unfortunate series of continuous beating. Any human being with massive strength would not have been able to sustain such number of flagellations using whips with pointed hooks and nails. <BR/><BR/>The holy Bible does NOT refer to the degree of such ill-treatments, for example the 'scene' when the Cross was 'trundled' on the hill and fell on the dusty ground, with Christ face down. <BR/><BR/>Even the 'abduction' of Christ was transformed into a frenzied activity with exaggerations when they hit Him repeatedly so as to inflict pain until He fell over the road side, chained. <BR/><BR/>We know the Camera can do marvels, but behind it there ought to be reasonable interpretation of events that should take precedence over smart technology.

Jesus getting beat up for almost 3 hours.

Don't buy the hype, I don't know why so many Christians did. All this movie is, is Jesus Christ getting beat up for almost 3 hours and very little of Christ's teachings. I would like to see a modern film on how Christ lived his life, not just how he died at the end of his mortal ministry.

The treatment it deserves

Finally after about 2 years of rumors and waiting we get the definitve edition of the passion as it deserves, whith hours of extra features including an 1 hour and 40 minute documentary alone plus 2 versions of the movie

I rate this movie two for disappointing

Aha! After Mel Gibson's infamous anti-Semitic (druken) remarks came out, I now fully understand the meaning of this movie. It was absolutely anti-Semitic. Not that it outrightly Jew-bashed, but historically, the ancient Roman Catholics would have "Passion Plays" that would depict the suffering, torture and crucifixion of Jesus. These plays did induce anti-Semitic feeling and this movie is just a modern adaptation of that, hence "The Passion". Thanks Mel, for wearing your heart on your sleeve. The movie was utterly violent, I was very dissappointed that there was nothing of Christ's teaching, unless if you include the last supper he had with his disciples in where again he is talking about his blood and flesh. But then again, I shouldn't be surprised...Mel didn't want the movie to be about love or forgiveness, only the "Passion." The only part that I remember of this movie was the flashback of Jesus and his mother. I thought that was a beautiful insight on the earlier years of Jesus as a carpenter. Other than that, I would skip this. You won't be a 'bad' Christian if you do.
