Overview

Basketball and urban drama meet in Artisan's The Playaz Court. The film is presented in a passable 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer. With bright colors and dark black levels, this transfer should please fans. Aside of a small amount of edge enhancement, the image for this film looks better-than-expected for such a low budget production. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround in English and isn't quite as impressive as the video transfer. While all aspects of the mix are free and clear of most distortion or hiss, overall the track lacks any true directional effects or dynamic range. Also included on this disc are English and Spanish subtitles. Artisan has slapped on a few supplements on this disc, including a filmmakers commentary track that features stories, anecdotes and other morsels about the making of the film. Also included on this disc are some rather thin bios on the cast and crew, some audition tapes allowing the viewer a rare glimpse into the casting of the film, and a few theatrical trailers.
