    Hysterical!

A friend of mine had seen this in the theatre, and she told me that it was hilarious, and that I ought to just buy it. Well, I don't always have the money to go out and start buying up movies at random, but I went ahead and rented it for the time being on the day of it's release and gave it a watch. This movie was downright hysterical. Some of what happened in it was somewhat predictable, but not so much so that it didn't keep my interest. The idea for this one was certainly a new and refreshing idea for a romantic comedy, and it was hilarious. I laughed through out most of the whole entire thing. It was also quite heartwarming in spots, especially at the end. The cast was sensational. Sandra Bullock is among one of my favorite actresses, and she was good as ever in this. Ryan Reynolds was quite good himself. The whole entire cast was great and had such excellent on screen chemistry together. If you like a good romantic comedy that is very funny but also heart warming, and are looking for a refreshing new one to watch, I definitely recommend checking this one out. You won't be disappointed!

    Not That Great

I thought with Sandra Bullock being in this movie it would be great and funny. NOT! I was very disappointed in this movie. The beginning, and where it was filmed and the wedding scene were good but the other parts were too boring for my taste.

    Ultimatum or a proposal?

Betty White, Mary Steenburgen, Ryan Reynolds, Craig T. Nelson, and Sandra Bullock are a riot in The Proposal. Their antics will have viewers laughing-out-loud at times. Kevin the dog is too cute and cuddly. The ladies adventure to the strip club is over the top. This DVD has an engaging and funny storyline along with some real "characters" to tickle your funny bone. If you enjoy romantic-comedies, you will probably find this one delightful. It's good for an evening at home movie.

    The Proposal

Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is a book publisher, and the scourge of all those who work under her. When she finds out that she's up for deportation back to Canada, though, because her visa has run out, she cons her assistant, Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds), into marrying her so she can stay in the country. As the INS starts looking into their case Margaret must go to Alaska with Andrew to meet his family and to learn more about each other to pass the examination.

Sandra Bullock is America's sweetheart. There is doubtful a person in this country who doesn't like her, and 2009 showed that more than ever as she broke her personal box office twice in the same year after 22 years in the game. She also accomplished that by not playing by anyone's rules but her own. While most people are searching for project after project to keep their name out there, but Bullock hasn't appeared onscreen since 2007's Premonition. So after 2 years out of the spotlight how does her return film fare?

Very well, actually. Don't get me wrong, this romantic comedy doesn't add anything new to the cannon of romantic comedies, and that was probably intentional. While we all might want a movie that's going to stimulate us in a new way, we can't always expect that. This movie does a great job at making it enjoyable enough to keep your mind off that fact that it's not really feeding you anything new. The actors are effortlessly likable, and have great chemistry together. Had the movie had made any other casting choices this movie would have gone down as just another romcom.

It's interesting to me that Bullock chose this role to be her return film. Typically she chooses characters that are immensely likable, but even in this role you still like her even if she is a total ego maniacal control freak. Ryan Reynolds is also a lot of fun to watch, and he's no different here. The real star of this movie though is Betty White as Andrew's grandmother who's turning 90 over the weekend they come to visit. Of course, I don't think anyone doubted the power of Betty White to steal every scene she's in.

I highly recommend this movie, sure it's somewhat cliché, but it's a lot of fun. It's definitely a good movie to just shut off your brain and just enjoy even if you don't typically like romantic comedies.

    Fun Romp!

This is one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a long time. I love Sandra Bullock in anything. First movie I've seen Ryan Reynolds in, he is a revelation.......hilariously funny, just the expression on his face can say it all. Betty White is a darling as usual. If you want to see a really funny, touching, feel-good movie from beginning to end, this is it.

    The Proposal

The Proposal is such a fun movie! It helps, certainly, that I have a weakness for the forced-into-marriage premise---made all the better for being tied to an immigration issue---but The Proposal has such a good time exploring that premise that it can't help but be an enjoyable film. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds have great chemistry, and their comedic and romantic interplay breathes charm and freshness into the sweet and goofy moments their characters share. The rest of the cast is equally fun to watch, and I only wish the film had been longer so that I might get to know them a bit better.

Was fun to watch on the big screen.... But is even more Hilariously Funnier to watch on DVD!!!!

The Proposal is a romantic comedy that consists of great acting and loads of funny moments. Being that it has an unusual plot it still follows the rules for a good movie to watch. It is a movie about a couple, a boss and a secretary, who start out as not liking or being fond of one another but who starts to get close while on a family trip to Alaska and began to think of each other in a different light. That just gives you all the more reason to go out and buy this movie. When watching the movie you will be able to see the creative aspect of the story line that will make you call this movie one of your favorites.
This movie will capture your sense of humor as it also comes up with witty ways to create amusing moments throughout the movie. Those witty ways will also turn into smart, funny, sexy moments that will keep you laughing. Also there are unforgettable moments that you will not forget. The way the family is portrayed in this movie is somewhat predictable because you have dad you wanted his son to take over the family business. By The Proposal including a fluffy white dog, a hungry eagle, a very expensive cell phone and even a tribal dance ritual it may seem a little bit over whelming, but none the less it will keep you giggling and wanting more. It also will keep you guessing about what's to come next.
Just by looking at the movie poster you are in for a treat. On the poster of The Proposal you will see Bullock dressed in this black dominatrix type suite with a pair of demanding high heels on that can poke an eye out, which tells you that she is like the boss and is going to be very dominant in the movie. And, if you look at Reynolds in the poster, you see that he is pent up against the wall by Bullock and that more than likely he is the least dominant within the relationship. between the two characters. The movie most definitely lives up to its poster because it shows you that you are in for a good laugh.
The director of the movie The Proposal is Anne Fletcher who has done other movies like 27 Dresses and Step Up. Anne Fletcher is well known for her choreography skills in most movies, but she uses her ability to choreograph very well into her directing ability also. I thought for this movie Sandra Bullock did an excellent job. She was very likeable in this movie role. She was always one of my favorite actresses.
On the other hand Reynolds, who we had last seen as Deadpool and the movie X-men Origins: Wolverine, portrays his character Andrew as more angry than he should have been. Overall I feel that he was the only one who could have actually played Andrew as an angry character and get away with it. The movie as a whole was well planned out and portrayed very well by all the actors. It lives up to its expectations on which I got just from looking at the movie poster and from watching the movie trailer.
I guess you can say, all in all, I rate this movie as a four out of five stars because I like Betty White and she brought life and humor to the more sour and awkward parts of the movie. She portrayed the grandmother's character very well in this movie. This movie also gets the four out of five stars because it was just that funny. Although there was not really any real chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds they were still fun to watch and they actually made a cute couple, even if the naked body crashing scene was taken out. So, my words to you are to buy this DVD if you're in need of a smile or a nice laugh.

    Completely predictable but funny anyway

You've seen this movie a dozen times, but Sandra and Ryan are so good together you just sit back and enjoy it. The scenery is gorgeous, and the supporting cast is great (except for Craig Nelson--who came off as a jerk). Great date movie.
