Sealed in manufacturer's shrink wrap~Fast shipping. 4 Horror Movie Classics on 2 Discs in 1 place. The Return Of The Living Dead~Like George Romero's Night of the Living Dead,
whose central premise it loosely reworks, this seemingly standard-issue gore-fest offers more than meets the eye. It's not a genre-defining masterpiece like the source of its inspiration, but it is a relatively clever popcorn flick with more gruesome imagery and self-aware humor than most such films that glutted the mid-'80s marketplace.Even better is the campy dialogue of the titular zombies and the queasily funny set pieces*Swamp Thing~Director Wes Craven, who went on to fame as the force behind blockbuster horror films such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, departed from his favorite genre to film this unique cult classic -- a spoof on the mad scientist movies of the 1950s. Adrienne Barbeau stars as Alice Cable, a government agent sent to replace a man who has disappeared while guarding a secret experimental lab in the middle of the Louisiana bayous. The interplay between Barbeau's no-nonsense Cable and deadpan teen sidekick Jude (Reggie Batts) is a lot of fun and The tongue-in-cheek production design -- from knowingly cheesy wipes to gorgeous exteriors of the swamp itself -- looks great, especially on DVD*A Bucket Of Blood~A fine example -- perhaps the best available -- of "B"-movie overlord Roger Corman's "Weekend Wonders" from the producer/director's early career (see also the original Little Shop of Horrors), this horror-comedy was also the first of beloved actor Dick Miller's dozen-odd portrayals of the character Walter Paisley.Miller's tour-de-force performance, writer Charles B. Griffith's hilarious "Daddy-O" dialogue, and Corman's emphasis on the story's more lurid aspects raise this bargain-basement production (ultra-cheap even by Corman's standards) to classic status*Frogs~The slimy denizens of the Everglades organize a particularly nasty rebellion in this enjoyable "Horror Flick".
