BEST OF ALL THE SECRET GARDENS

This is without doubt the best, most true to the book version of all the versions made. It has a softness, a mystery about it -- it is not vastly overblown like the Agnieszka Holland version -- this is the real bit of Yorkshire -- you are there in the heart of the book. The change and magic of the garden seems as timeless and mysterious as nature itself, not a special effect. You can smell the scents in this film, the moss and earth. It is by far the most accessible and closest to the heart of the story, itself -- touching, beautiful, and heartening.
