When the Seattle sound turned pop music on its ear in the early 1990s, the charts were ripe for the Smashing Pumpkins' unique style. The band patented a heavy-fuzz rock born of classics like Led Zeppelin but eschewed clichéd machismo to instead speak for the world's underdogs. Restless front-Pumpkin Billy Corgan chased his muse wherever it led him, from the borderline prog-rock of "Siamese Dream" to the dark, acoustic elctronica of "Adore." This terrific DVD overview covers the disbanded pioneers' path, from pre-prime time psychedelic standout "Siva" through "An Ode to No One," the latter in a performance from the band's final concert. Highlights in between include the career-making milk-truck madcappery of "Today" and award-winning clips "1979" (an ode to misspent teenage suburban weekends) and "Tonight, Tonight," with its grandiose, seemingly hand-colored tribute to early filmmaker Georges Méliès. Jam-packed with extras including video production outtakes and more rare live stuff, this disc is as visionary as the band itself.

Awesome collection of videos. The outtakes/alternate cuts/making-of clips were really fun to watch, and the commentary from the band and video directors was engaging and oftentimes hilarious. A must-have for any Ghost Child.
