Overview

Inspired by the beloved segment of the Walt Disney classic Fantasia, The Sorcerer's Apprentice moves the setting of the story to modern-day Manhattan, where decidedly average teen Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) hones his magical powers under the tutelage of master sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage). Malevolent wizard Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina) is determined to claim New York City as his own. And Horvath isn't alone in his diabolical endeavor, because by joining forces with the sinister sorcerer, pop illusionist Drake Stone (Toby Kebbell) aspires to gain powers beyond his wildest imagination. Realizing that he can't take on Horvath and Stone alone, Blake recruits Stutler as his reluctant assistant and begins training him the battle that will determine the fate of the Big Apple. Teresa Palmer and Monica Bellucci co-star.

My husband and I watched The Sorcerer's Apprentice last night and the night before, that's how good it is. Nicholas Cage and Jay Baruchel were made for these parts! The special effects were phenomenal, the plot was intoxicating and the acting was superb. James says one of the reasons I like this movie so much because I'm just like Dave Stutler, the apprentice. He's right. We both absolutely loved it and it's now on my "must have" list, so maybe I'll get it for Christmas. That would be fabulous! If you haven't seen this movie yet, rent it! It should not be missed.

The movie is a fun adaptation of Mickey's adventure many years ago, and with after credits hints, I hope to see a sequel in the future.

I watched this movie, with my family, and I loved it, the plot is very good, The whole idea is great, I love it so much. I watch it almost every time I can. I thought the movie would be ok. But when I watched it, I LOVED it! I might even get the junior novel so I can watch/read it anytime I want.

This movie is so wonderful! It has a combination of action and comedy! The special effects were fabulous. Nicolas Cage has got to be one of the most talented actors! His dry sense of humor was wonderful. Love the old man shoes! The mop scence was portrayed/ done excellent! Disney got that perfect!

I have a ten year old daughter obsessed with magic and wizards and anything of the kind. I took her and two of her friends to see the movie in the theater, and all three loved it! It's a modern day adventure and I found it highly entertaining. My daughter has it on her Christmas list this year, so I'm here to order. I really think it's a great movie!
