The TerminalDirector: Steven Spielberg
Shot almost entirely on a two-and-a-half-story recreation of a full-size operating airport terminal, this romantic comedy from director Steven Spielberg revolves around an Eastern European man by the name of Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks), whose plans of immigrating to New York were hastened by a violent coup in his home country. Unfortunately, Viktor finds himself on the wrong end of a nasty technicality while en route to America: His passport was issued from a country, which, during its upheaval, ceased to exist in an official capacity. Unauthorized to leave Kennedy Airport upon his arrival and unable to return home, Viktor finds himself exiled inside the terminal's international transit lounge. Though airport official Frank Dixon (Stanley Tucci) views Viktor as an annoying bureaucratic glitch, other airport employees -- including a beautiful flight attendant by the name of Amelia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) -- come to see him as a welcome, if unofficial, addition to their numbers. As the days stretch on into months, the terminal transforms from an intimidating atmosphere of forced assimilation into a country within itself, complete with culture, ambition, status, complex diversity, and the need for love. The supporting cast includes Diego Luna, Chi McBride, Kumar Pallana, Zoe Saldana, Eddie Jones, and Jude Ciccolella. ~ Tracie Cooper

After seeing 'The Terminal' in theaters, I thought that Tom Hanks turned in a magnificent performance as Viktor Navorski. The scenes between Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones were quite a pleasure to watch! I recommend this film to anyone who is an avid fan of Tom Hank's films, as well as Steven Spielberg's films. I'm going to definitely buy this film on VHS on November 23rd(If they will sell the film in this format)to add to my film collection!!!
I commend Tom Hanks for his performance in this memorable film. For two hours I forgot I was watching Tom Hanks, the movie star, and became entranced by Victor Navorski, a chivalrous and adorable character. This is no small achievement, considering Tom Hanks is my favorite actor, by a long shot.
Excellent movie. Outstanding performance by Hanks and an excellent story.
Excellent movie. I know it is based on a real event but the end kind of leaves you hanging onto whether he leaves for sure or not......
This is funny! Gupta, the janitor is hysterical! He makes fun of Viktor (Tom Hanks) every time in the movie.
Dreadful. Hanks was great as the main character - Vicotor, but the story was absurd. A man gets caught in immigration limbo and gets stuck in a NY airport terminal for 9 months. He arranges a marraige between to 2 abject strangers, he falls in Love (and vice versa) with with a airline attendant after they meet once in the terminal bookstore. He builds a fountain from a watercooler as a way to express his Love for the same stewardess. He inspires an 80 year old refuge from India to stop a moving 747 jumbo jet with a mop. All the parts were very well acted, but the story was probably the most unbelieveble I have have ever seen.
I love Tom Hanks, in about everything he does, but this one disappointed me. A comedy? I think not...didn't laugh once. This is more of a sappy chick flick that chicks would dig, and not men. If you like chick flicks, you'll like this one, very similar to When Harry Met Sally.
This movie is truly outstanding. It has a very unique story, great acting, great directing, everything a movie should have. The best thing about this movie is that it isnt like everyother movie out there, its unique in every aspect.
i really liked this movie. tom hanks is one of my favorite actors. when i saw this at the movie theater, i cried a lot. i felt the supervisor of the kennedy airport was really harsh on viktor-(Tom Hanks!). overall, this is a must- see movie. it's both moving and inspiring. it teaches you about love.
I've never seen a Speilburg film I didnt enjoy, and this is a great film. first, I love Tom Hanks..and the story is just great
This is definetely my favourite movie! The story is great and the acting is just as good! I give this movie 20 out of 5 stars! I watched this movie for extra credit for my history class since we were studing immigration, and I LOVED it. When Viktor (Tom Hanks) was sad, I felt sad for him, and when he was happy, I felt happy too! This movie is also funny! Whoever says it's not, doesn't have a sense of humor. I highly recommend this movie to everyone!
This is a cute story, nothing more, nothing less. It is not credible, and as you watch the beginning of the movie, certain events happen that are incredulous with regards to Tom's character communicating with the world. I know there is a moment where you suspend belief, because it is a movie and they are telling you a story, but this movie is poor and could have been shown in 30 minutes instead of 2+ hours.
My aunt bought this DVD for me as a Christmas gift!! The DVD and cover were in exellent condition !!! This was a used DVD but was in mint condition!!!!!!!!! I was very pleased to have it!!!!!!!!!!!
