Hilarity rushes to the altar in the Jennifer Lopez/Matthew McConaughey romantic comedy The Wedding Planner. Columbia has done a fine job on this disc, starting off with a very nice 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Overview

Hilarity rushes to the altar in the Jennifer Lopez/Matthew McConaughey romantic comedy The Wedding Planner. Columbia has done a fine job on this disc, starting off with a very nice 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Imperfections such as digital artifacting and edge enhancement are never present during the feature. With bold black levels and very bright colors, this transfer is very pleasing to the eye. The same might be said for the ears with the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. While sound effects are not heavily used in The Wedding Planner, this track utilizes the surround feature whenever romantic songs are in the background. Clear and concise, this track should please home theater listeners. Also included on this disc is a Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround soundtrack in English, as well as English, French, and Spanish subtitles. The Wedding Planner could be considered a special edition of sorts, boasting a bouquet of extra features. A commentary track with director Adam Shankman and screenwriters Pamela Falk and Michael Ellis is both insightful and funny. Also included on this disc are some deleted scenes that don't add much to the proceedings, a short "making of" featurette, "The Dancer and the Cowboy" featurette, some theatrical trailers, filmographies, production notes, and web links to The Wedding Planner website. If fans of romantic comedy are in the mood for DVD love, this edition of The Wedding Planner should ignite sparks.

Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide
If the road to worldwide diva-hood is paved with romantic comedy vanity projects, Jennifer Lopez tosses off her first with The Wedding Planner, a sloppy mix of exaggerated scenarios and eccentric supporting characters. Perfect coifing and glossy lips define Lopez' performance, which is capable enough at certain lower levels. Blame freshman director Adam Shankman, however, for making it difficult to see her as a businesswoman defined by her superior composure. Defaulting to broadness wherever possible, Shankman subjects Lopez to one frazzled episode after another. This sort of slapstick confusion informs the film throughout, with Judy Greer especially grating as Lopez' jangled assistant. Matthew McConaughey frustrates in a more sedative manner, dispensing the same brand of insultingly lazy charm that's characterized his career to date. The Wedding Planner occasionally touches on likeability after its trying first act, but it never rises above the level of tired retread. More regrettably, it can't capitalize on its one chance at an original perspective: providing insider stuff on orchestrating society's most lavish weddings. What we get instead is Lopez spritzing smelling salts on a besotted father of the bride -- FOB, per her headset acronym-speak -- from the stash stored in her jacket lining, which would make a street hustler envious. Then again, the whole film is built on such simple bits of screenwriting fluff, designed to catch daydreaming future brides in the audience at the height of their susceptibility.

    a reviewer

Hey J.Lo fans everywhere, this movie is divinely sweet and no one plays the role better or hotter than Jennifer Lopez. Mattew is a modern day CASANOVA that could crash my party anyday. Seriously, its overall great show it to your bridal party and drink lots of Gallo wine.

    Jennifer+Matthew=Winning Combination

Throughly entertaining. Casting is superb! Jennifer and Matthew should have already made another movie together...comedy or drama... the chemistry is there.

    Entertaining

I don't have anything against romantic comedies, I just prefer movies with a bit more suspense and action. I got this just to have something to watch. Surprise! It was great! It was funny, romantic and sweet. Plus, Jenn and Matt looked so cute together.

    just chance

For a just chance encounter this movie was great. First the guy meats girl. second guy runs into girl. third guy falls in love with girl. all 3 essential parts for a love story are met. this movie will keep you on your feet as you wonder whether both parties will marry the person they are expected to marry. or weather they will follow their hearts.

    An adorable movie

This movie is a great combination of comedy and romance. It's not just a girl movie- a guy could definitely enjoy it. Both Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey are great in this movie, and the make an adorable couple. It's very funny and sweet, with a great ending.

    Funny, cool, here's my rating

A movie needs to be fun, well, here you go. This movie has charm, comedy, and the best cast. Jennifer Lopez, is even better than acting than at singing, and Matthew McConaughey, has charm, and is the perfect person to put in this type of movie.
