Overview

The Who: Live in Boston has been transferred to disc in letterboxed format at the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1, which has been enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors; the image is strong and crisp with an effective but realistic color sense. ...

Overview

This concert video, shot near the end of the group's first tour following the unexpected death of bassist John Entwistle, finds the veteran British rockers in unexpectedly strong form, and the presentation on disc matches that the quality of the material. The Who: Live in Boston has been transferred to disc in letterboxed format at the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1, which has been enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors; the image is strong and crisp with an effective but realistic color sense. The audio has been mastered in two formats, Dolby Digital 5.1 and PCM stereo, and both tracks sound tight but lively with just the right amount of live ambience. The disc also includes optional subtitles in English, French, and Spanish, though the French and Spanish subs only translate the between-song patter and not the lyrics. As a bonus, this edition includes new interviews with Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey who discuss the current state of the Who and the decision to continue following Entwistle's death.
