Overview

Children's pop group The Wiggles help spread both magic and music in their first full-length motion picture. Dorothy the Dinosaur (voice of Carolyn Ferrie) is getting ready to celebrate her birthday, but she begins to imagine that all her friends have forgotten about her. What Dorothy doesn't know is that her friends Wags the Dog (Paul Paddick), Captain Feathersword (also played by Paul Paddick) and Henry the Octopus are joining forces with The Wiggles (Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt, Anthony Field, and Greg Page) to throw a special surprise party for her in the park. However, Dorothy has hit the road with Wally (Tony Harvey), a magician who hasn't had much luck cating spells lately; she's hoping he can tell her what her birthday will be like, while Wally wants to boost his magical power to win a contest at the Magic Club and live up to his family's long-standing reputation as expert magicians. Can The Wiggles catch up with Dorothy in time for her big party? The Wiggles: Magical Adventure! A Wiggly Movie also features sixteen songs from the good-natured pop quartet.

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Just how popular are the Wiggles in their native Australia? When The Wiggles Magical Adventure was released in 1997, it was second only to Titanic at the box office. American preschoolers have since embraced Greg, Murray, Anthony, and Jeff, paving the way for the video release of their first feature film. The Wiggles are up to their silly musical tricks in this festive story in which the madcap quartet plan a surprise party for Dorothy the Dinosaur. She thinks they have forgotten her birthday, but it's Dorothy to the rescue when Wally the Great, a hapless magician, "borrows" Greg's wand to win a competition at the Magic Club and follow in the footsteps of his famous father, Roland the Remarkable. While the Wiggles search for her in the Big Red Car, Dorothy and Wally visit Wags the Dog, Captain Feathersword, and Henry the Octopus to try and get the broken wand fixed, and Dorothy inspires Wally to believe in himself. This is an ideal introduction into the Wiggles' wild world, while longtime fans will enjoy this extended quality time with the quartet.

My daughter and husband are confirmed Wiggles fans, and neither one enjoys this movie. My daughter cries during the long ''acting'' parts and is not as interested in the songs as with past Wiggles movies. Perhaps she will enjoy it when she is around three. My husband I am afraid will never enjoy it. For those who love the TV show, stick to the shorter, but more entertaining DVDs.

We love the Wiggles. My 2 1/2 year old grand daughter can't get enough. She loves them as much as I loved Sha Na Na. I can't wait for more Wiggle DVD to come out. Her mother loves Anthony so I got her an Anthony doll for Christmas even though she is 30.

I recommend this for your children the little ones it keeps them dancing and singing along with the wiggles. Even I sit there with my 2 year old and watch it with him. Its lots of fun.

Once we poped in the movie, it was an instant hit! The kids were singing to every word, and so were my husband and I. Its a great, entertaining family video!

My 2 year old aughter LOVES The Wiggles. She always asks to see 'Wally' from Magical Adventure (that's how she relates to the movie) and I had to keep telling her that it was broken. I had to buy a second Magical Adventure dvd since the first one was ruined from being dragged across the floor! I don't mind one bit, after all, I sing and dance with her!

The Wiggles may be kooky at first, but they did great in this movie. It is very colorful, upbeat, magical, and most importantly appropriate for my toddler. The storyline is not too complicated for children to understand, and the characters make the story more interesting to appeal to children who don't have such long attention spans.
