Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Ever wonder what programs capture the imaginations of children in other countries? In Australia, it's The Wiggles -- Murray, Anthony, Greg, and Jeff -- whose unique brand of interactive musical high jinks is on display here in Yummy Yummy. This irresistibly upbeat tape collects 14 songs, most of them original, that emphasize tongue-teasing wordplay. There are lots of coordination-testing hand games and sing-along, dance-along, wiggle-along fun with rhythms ranging from rockabilly to swing. The recommended audience is children five and under, although with a caveat: One song features Wiggles look-alike puppets that may even creep out adults.

    Entertaining

My 1 1/2 year old loves the wiggles and he really loved this video in particular. He loves the creepy puppet segment. It's me who has to leave the room in hysterics when I see it---IT FREAKS ME OUT!!!!!!! Otherwise, a good, entertaining video.

    Wiggly Dad recommends this title.

Lots of fun. Too bad some people are creeped out by the puppets singing the techo-beat point your finger and do the twist. It is HILARIOUS! My two year old daughter loves it and laughs, sings, and dances. It is the funniest thing I've seen the Wiggles do. The rest of the DVD is good too, with a few lame items (Gregg doing a boring magic trick), but mostly entertaining.

Yummy Yummy disappoints compared to others

Yummy Yummy is our second Wiggles dvd--the first one, Wiggly Play Time, we purchased had special features, more interesting skits, better songs and better production value. I hear that it is mostly filled with TV skit content, so it disappoints some, but we liked it. Yummy Yummy just didn't cut it for us. The songs weren't very catchy and the skits were unimaginative. And the puppets in the Point Your Finger song...seriously creepy, and to a pulsing beat with swirling color background!!?? I am shocked that this song video didn't ruin their franchise.

    Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy

My son is 3-1/2 years old and loves the wiggles. I just picked up a copy of Yummy Yummy (VHS) and he loved the Point Your Fingers and Do the Twist version with the puppets - he made me rewind the tape three times to watch that song again. We've watched the video almost daily for a week now - it's his current favorite. Since our introduction to the Wiggles about a year ago, anything Wiggly is good.

    Excellent - All the favorites

My 1 year old is mesmerized by the Wiggles and this DVD provides him with all of their best songs. It last 35 minutes just long enough for me to get ready in the morning - while he dances and plays. He's even learned the motions to Hot Potato. If you child likes the Wiggles this DVD is a must!!

The Wiggles Star in Their First Horror Film

My 10 month old LOVES the Wiggles. I thought this would be a huge hit, and it was until these C-R-E-E-P-Y looking charicature puppets started singing 'Can You Point Your Fingers and Do the Twist'. Then right in the middle it shows all their heads in a bowl of fruit and they say, 'Fruit salad, yummy yummy.' He ran from the room hysterical. I realize the puppets are supposed to be funny. As an adult I can see the humor. For a small child, they are really scary. Unless your small child is into horror films, I would not let them watch the puppets. Don't misunderstand me. The rest of the video is fantastic. It has many of the songs my son loves. They need to rethink the use of the scary puppets.

    The Best Ever Childrens Show

I have 8 Grandchildren and I also run a home daycare, the WIGGLES are the biggest hit for shows to watch. The songs, real people and the great costumes of Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog and Henry the Octopus make for a great time with the children. Thank You! WIGGLES!

    Fab $ from Australia

Until last year, I personally never heard of the Wiggles. A friend of our actually gave us this tape. My daughter cannot stop watching it or dancing to their clever, catchy music. Hot Potatoe, Yummy Yummy, Walk & others will certainly please your childs ear and not too mention the colors on screen.

    highly recommended Wiggles DVD/Video

This DVD/Tape includes most of the 2003 season of the Wiggles that are on the Disney channel. There are some songs that are missing and are rather hard to find (Dance like Henry). My favorites and my daughter's favorites are: 1. Fruit Salad 2. Crunchy Munchy Honey Cakes 3. Hot Potato 4. Point Your Finger and do the Twist 5. Monkey Dance 6. D.O.R.O.T.H.Y. the dinosaur There are some issues that I have with the DVD: 1. The chapters, when playing the DVD, are not aligned with the songs. So if you click to skip to chapter 6, you maybe in the middle of a song. 2. The sound is rather poor, which is really why you purchase a DVD and the above issue. 3. I was rather irritated about a Yiddish spoken song that was in the middle of the DVD. Now, before you jump on me about being anti-this and anti-that, I understand that the Wiggles are making a weak attempt at diversity. Is it rather ironic that ALL the children are white? There is La Cocharaca song on Wiggles Party DVD with a Mexican man and kid. If The Wiggles are going to be diverse, continue with presenting other races and backgrounds and non-white kids in the dance routines. Don't stop at only Mexicans and Yiddish songs. Offense is not the purpose here, it is to inform of what is on the DVD so parents can make an educated purchase. I hope that I am not reading more into this like the Tinky Winky thing a couple of years ago...

review by a new wiggles fan

My kids enjoyed this tape until the puppets showed up. They scared my 1 year old and lost interest on my 3 year old. They loved the rest. WE enjoyed the live person version of Captain Feathersword on ''Jeff Wake Up'' more that the puppet version found here. We fast forward the puppets and enjoy the rest.
