Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
Exhibiting both a terrific polish and astonishing range, Three Mo' Tenors first made a splash with their dazzling appearance in the omnibus My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs. But the trio -- Victor Trent Cook, Thomas Young, and Rodrick Dixon -- have far more up their collective sleeve than a tour of the Great White Way. As this concert from PBS's Great Performances shows, they are most at home pinballing through a willfully eclectic repertoire. At the show's start, the aria "La donna è mobile" may recall the euphonic forays of other tenor trios, but their versatility soon eclipses that or any other comparisons. Almost no genre proves beyond their ken. In everything from soul ("Love Train") to R&B ("Let the Good Times Roll") to jazz (a jaw-dropping Duke Ellington medley) to gospel ("Were You There?"), Three Mo' Tenors wield a virtuosity, audacious humor, and joy in the craft of singing that is nothing short of enthralling.
