    Thumbs Down--Biblically inaccurate and disappointing

I reviewed this dvd to show to my Sunday School class and was very disappointed to see that it was laced with a little truth (Moses, Pharoah, Egypt) but so much of the storyline was embellished and made up that I cannot recommend this dvd if you are looking for a true account of the Exodus. I'm all for creative liberty in filling in the gaps where Scripture is silent, as long as it does not blatantly depart from the Scriptures. In this dvd, God appears to Moses in a burning bush while he is still living in Pharoah's palace under his Eygptian grandfather (which by the way, is on the throne the entire dvd--whereas Biblically Moses half-brother is Pharoah). Pharoah's half-brother "Amun" sees Moses talking to God in the burning bush and sees the staff turn to a snake and asks Moses for the same power and staff. Instead of God having the power and controlling the plaques, God tells Moses to use the power he is giving him wisely, so you will see Moses wave his magical staff throughout the movie. Many of the plaques are not mentioned and some are made up, such as rainstorm for days and mold infestation that covers the houses and people. Moses gets placed on house arrest by Pharoah and eventually Moses half-brother parnters with him to lead the 30-50 slaves out of Egypt, which we know there were thousands upon thousands of slaves. The final plaque of death of first born was presented as a fever in some children, and Moses waves his staff and heals the children. In good consciousness, I cannot recommend this dvd if you are looking for an accurate account of the Exodus with Moses.
