This impeccable hour-long collection gathers some of Disney’s most enchanting cartoons, including “The Ugly Duckling,” an Academy Award winner in ...

Disney has been quite savvy in packaging and marketing its vintage animation and preserving its legacy for a new generation. For collectors, there are the deluxe Walt Disney Treasure sets: For families, there are more affordable, easily digestible compilations such as Timeless Tales. This impeccable hour-long collection gathers some of Disney’s most enchanting cartoons, including “The Ugly Duckling,” an Academy Award winner in 1939. Also on the program is the mouse-out-of-water story, “The Country Cousin” (1936), and “Ferdinand the Bull” (1938), the sweet story of a bull who would rather stop and smell the roses than fight in the ring. But the highlight of this volume is “The Wind in the Willows” (1949), the classic featurette released theatrically as part of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and based on Kenneth Grahame’s whimsical book. Basil Rathbone narrates, and the inimitable Eric Blore is the voice of the thrill-seeking Mr. Toad. This collection offers timeless delights: Beloved stories, delightful characters, and peerless animation that makes these shorts resonate in the imagination much longer than some contemporary animated features.

I bought this DVD at a used video store for the Prince and the Pauper alone. Just the same, it is a very good DVD with some real good cartoon selection choices (Like "The 3 Little Pigs") The video quality is good and it is a nice little bunch of cartoons.
