Though it did poorly at the box office, Fox's underappreciated, animated science fiction film Titan A.E. is in its element on this deluxe DVD, which features a widescreen, anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Surround Audio, and a host of extras. The disc's best bonuses -- which include a commentary by directors Don Bluth and Gary Goldman, deleted scenes, and a "making of" featurette -- showcase the talent, imagination, and technology that went into making the film appealing to sci-fi diehards and casual fans alike. Other extras, such as the music video for Lit's "Over My Head," the still gallery, trailers, and a DVD-ROM game link, aren't essential to enjoying the film but are still entertaining in their own right. With any luck, this disc will give Titan A.E. the second chance it deserves with science fiction and animation fans.

This is probably one of the best science fiction cartoon movies that have ever been made! The story and plot are excellent, not to mention the ingenious graphics and effects. Don Bluth and his team outdid themselves with this great movie.
Whoever's idea it was to do so much 2d and computer animation together should have been fired. The story was unoriginal (ever see Star Wars?) and the animal characters were goofy.
THe movie in my opinion and our kids was a thumbs up. But just so the consumers know, I'ts Not rated R it's PG. Barnes and noble, needs to get themselves together and reseach this stuff better!
So great, I saw it 11 times in its theatrical run and bought the video the day of its release. Superb animation, breathtaking graphics, believable characters and an intriguing story filled with all kinds of space adventures. The soundtrack is cutting-edge rock and really adds to the intensity of the scenes. There are some space scapes here that you've never seen before, like mesmerizing colorful nebulas, eerily mysterious planets, and a dangerous icefield that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'd throw Star Wars out the window for this sci-fi adventure. A definate must-see.
I loved this movie so much, that I actually bought it the day after my family and I rented it. It was put together wonderfully and the special effects are awesome! This movie is one of the best cartoon movies ever made. Well, that's what I think. (I also have the soundtrack to this movie and it is the best! Get it today.)
I loved this movie and all the animation, creatively and artfully masterful in content. However, this movie is not rated R. It is PG, and would be great to show to even a kid of 7 or 8. *Some partial back nudity when Cale is being examined and given medicine. But really nothing bad. The littler children would probably just giggle, then get on with watching the rest of the movie.
I think its a good movie with a great plot!!
Enjoyed Don Bluthe's attempt at a sci-fi movie. Inorporating cel and 3d-digi animation made a pretty evenly seemed movie. Only issue that I had with it was the inconsistent 3d animation between the ice scene and the rest of the movie; ILM did the ice scene to a breath-taking quality, but the rest of the movie failed to take the same amount of breath. This was NOT a reason for me to pass up buying the movie myself and enjoying it. Totally worth a rent for the regular Joe/Jane, and worth a buy by the computer, scifi and animation nerds out there (which I¿m a proud member!)
I play video games and the graphics for the scene when Cale is captured by the Drej are just as good as XBox and Gamecube (all fellow gamers, you know what I mean). I didn't see all of the movie but I read the book which is just as good
the best animation film I ever saw. i gave up watching animation films ever since there started to be more and more sappy disney movies. and when my mom forced me into viewing it when i was babysitting for my little bro i didn't think it would be any better. i got totaly hooked, my brother got sick of it.
This is a very good movie and I recomend it for everyone.
I though it was a cool movie to watch and enjoy.
This movie really kicked! The computer-graphics and the 2d, I think, mixed rather well. The plot line does kind of get lost a couple of times, but it restates itself before you become lost. This movie will make a great gift for sci-fi fans regardless of age or preference of live-action over animation.
I had wanted to see this in the theater, but missed it. When I rented it I thought the transfer to my small screen would diminish the power of it, but I was wrong. The music, the voices, the 3D imagery over 2D space paintings... it was just a great combination. I watched it solo first, but realized that it is totally acceptable for my two boys to watch and they love it. I rate it right up there with Iron Giant for skill and emotional content, and it rates with the original Heavy Metal for combined animation and pure rock and roll adrenaline!
The movie was half good and half bad. Sometimes the 2d and computer graphics together looked a little funky, and the story could have been a lot better. But the voice-overs were good, and the music was good. If you are looking for an animated movie but not a Disney one, check this out.
