Overview

A sumptuous picture and thundering sound quality compensate for the complete lack of extras in this DVD edition of Paramount's blockbuster. The picture is a gorgeous 2.35:1 widescreen transfer, although it is not anamorphic. Still, it's hard to complain with such vibrant blues, golds, and reds filling the screen. Sound, too, is excellent. Offered in Dolby Digital 5.1, it's given a workout throughout the entire picture. James Horner's score has never sounded more alive, and the actual sinking is an ...

James Horner's score has never sounded more alive, and the actual sinking is an earth-shattering sonic experience. From the roar of seawater to the splitting of hull plates, every sound is reproduced with startling clarity. The only head-scratcher here is the complete lack of extras. A film of this size, and having this much impact, must have a vault-load of deleted scenes, documentaries, and so on. James Cameron has often re-released his films in extras-laden special editions. Let's hope that one for Titanic waits in the wings. In the meantime, the gorgeous picture and sound will satisfy those who simply must have Titanic on DVD.

by far one of the best movies ever made

this movie is full of inspiration and romance. you immediately fall in love with the characters, and the actors make it easy for you to feel like you are in the scene. I watched these movie with some friends and Leonardo DiCaprio (jack) stayed in my thoughts the whole night. I felt like I was truely in love. this movie captures exactly what I thought the real Titanic would be like. I fell in love with this classic 1997 movie, and I feel like the rest of the world will too!

    Touching True Love

This phenomenal tale was absoluetly a remarkable story of adventure and a forbidden love on an ill-fated ship. It starts off a little slow and the dialogue is fit for a 5 year old, but the actors put it to life. It was extremely upseting toward the end, but all together it was a masterpiece that will never been forgotten! Besides the fact that it was the best grossed movie in the world and tied THE LORD OF THE RING as one of the most academy awards ever won, you should run, not walk, to your nearest video or book store that carries this touching love story right now! Leonardo and Kate do an outstanding job of acting out a compassionate love that sends you into tears as the ship goes down. The special effects are also another great part of this movie!

    Titanic is a great movie.

My most favorite character in this movie is Danny Nucci's role as Fabrizio DiRossi.Besides this, Titanic is a great masterpiece in full action and tragedy.I would not recommend this movie to children, because it has sad scenes. Highly recommended for teenagers and up.

Titanic makes you think back to what the passengers of the doomed ship really went through in their final minutes of life

Titanic is one of my all time favorite movies that really made me feel like I was experiencing it. James Cameron has a way with his movies but this was only one of his that I liked and still watch today. Titanic is one of the last movies portrayed about the ship of dreams. It is a movie with a lot of dramatic irony, which means the viewer knows whats going to happen before the characters know it. Titanic is about first class teenager Rose Dewitt Bukater who feels like she is up the river without a paddle, because her mother is forcing and arranged marriage upon her and her rich fiance. Then we are introduced to the steerage passenger Jack Dawson, who just struck luck in a bar and won two tickets for him and his friend to go on the Titanic. The two passengers meet and imediately fall in love with each other. There are only two problems with that. Rose's fiance is not keen at all about this, and the second hand man with her fiance will make Jack look like a culprit, but their idea will be shattered to pieces when the ships propellers make their last revulation, and only a matter of time before the ships lifeboats are gone.

    What happened?

What happened to this movie? It was horrible! The only part of this `film¿ that was any good was the main storyline. The acting was dreadful- the lines were recited, not acted out; the swearing was forced and a completely failed attempt. The nude drawing scene was totally unnecessary- if they had to have a naked drawing they still didn¿t need to show the actual person. That diamond necklace was very `cheesy¿, and repetitive of other movies. The last thirty minutes or so is quite morbid- people are trapped in the hull of the Titanic, freezing and drowning. People freeze in each others arms, pry whistles from the bodies of their friends, push people out of emergency boats, locked the middle class people into die. This movie is a complete waste of three hours of your life.

An amazingly sad love story of losses, and a diamond from the bottom of the Atlantic.

I loved this movie! It was the first time I saw it, and I remember it had made so sad that I was crying through the end. If you like sad movies/love stories, I would definatley say that you should take the time you have and WATCH IT!

This is one of those 'cry movies' I loved it and I cry at the end always. It's so romantic. It could have done without the whole scene where Jack draws Rose. But other then that it was amazing.

    Fantastic film!

Titanic was one of the most breathtaking films ever made!I can't get enough of this film. It has humour, romance and death, all of these things create an almost perfect film! The ending is so sad and there are characters which you love to hate.

    Titanic: Breath-taking

I can still remember the first time I saw Titanic as I walked into the movie theater. I knew it would be good, and what I received, surpassed my highest expectations of what I expected. Titanic is a work of magnicent emotion and detail. James Cameron spent two years researching and visiting Titanic until he got what he wanted. Every single shot and ounce of film in Titanic is astounding and perfectly told. It hits every aspect of the emotional spectrum from joy to hate, especially love. At the end of Titanic, my heart was pumping because I was so warped into that hearts and minds of the characters, and the movie itself. Every single actor and actress played their roles perfectly from the main characters to the extras. The main characters get you from the start and you can't help but get emotionally trapped into their worlds. It leaves you in an emotional state of wanting them to come out alright. It's almost as if you know the Titanic is going to sink prior to watching the movie, but you still hope for it to make that turn sooner. This is just one of the very many things that makes Titanic breath-taking. As you watch Titanic, there are many little specific details that James Cameron included about the real Titanic to make his movie as historically correct as possible, and you have to look for those type of things to achieve the historical point-of-view. Extensive research and analysis were used in making the movie as Cameron aimed for perfection, and this is seen throughout the entire movie from short sequences to long sequences. If you know what went into making this work of art, it will leave you in a state of awe. Titanic deserved every single one of it's Academy Awards and I believe it should have won a few more, which it deserved. Titanic is an emotional rollercoaster through the realms of history aboard the Titanic, through the whole journey from the launch at Belfast to the sinking in the Atlantic with cherished characters. It is a masterpiece and will always be viewed as the greatest movie ever created in my eyes. I highly recommend Titanic.
