    Twain would not approve

I showed this film to my 7th graders after they had read the novel Tom Sawyer. This is over-simplified and over- Hollywood-ized, with too many liberties taken with the plot and character. This is not the Becky Thatcher from Twain's imagination. Nor do Tom or Huck fit their literary counterparts. It's basically a dumbed-down version of the novel that doesn't give enough credit to the intelligence of kids today who can and do get the satire and deeper meanings of Twain's work.

Great Personification of Every Kids Heros

I loved ''The Adventures of Tom Sawyer''. This movie brought everything to life so perfectly. Johnathan Taylor Thomas and Brad Renfro are the perfect boys to bring to life every kid's heros.
