Overview

BCI Eclipse offers another entry into their line of value-priced Crown International Pictures releases with this DVD of Tomboy. The film is presented in a letterboxed, anamorphically enhanced video transfer. It has been taken from colorful, blemish-free source material, but the video has a noticeable sheen of pixelated video grain. The transfer is also interlaced, leading to the occasional bit of motion-blurring that will annoy some viewers. The Dolby Digital 2.0 sound is fine, delivering a simple but clear soundtrack mix. It is worth noting that the disc's menus use music from the soundtrack of Tomboy to kitschy, amusing effect. The one extra is a trailer gallery that includes trailers for four other Crown International Pictures titles that BCI Eclipse offers, but no trailer for Tomboy itself. In short, the video flaws of this disc might turn some viewers off, but its budget price makes it an acceptable if not quite ideal viewing option for 1980s comedy fans.
