Total RecallDirector: Paul Verhoeven
In Paul Verhoeven's wild sci-fi action movie Total Recall, Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a 21st-century construction worker who discovers that his entire memory of the past derives from a memory chip implanted in his brain. Schwarzenegger learns that he's actually a secret agent who had become a threat to the government, so those in power planted the chip and invented a domestic lifestyle for him. Once he has realized his true identity, he travels to Mars to piece together the rest of his identity, as well as to find the man responsible for his implanted memory. Verhoeven has created a fast, furious action film with Total Recall, filled with impressive stunts and (literally) eye-popping visuals. Though the film bears only a passing resemblance to the Philip K. Dick short story it was based on ("We Can Remember It For You Wholesale"), the movie is an entertaining, if very violent, ride.

i bought this dvd because it said it was widescreen. it is NOT. don't buy it.
A great story line mixed with the best action hero is one good combination. There are many movies i like and few i dislike. This is one of the movies i like.
Better than average storyline, great special effects and fine and very believable performances by Arnold and the cast. The mutants carried the story. Confused, off-balance and in a strange environment he brought me into the action and story.
One of Arnold's best and most under rated films. Sci-Fi fans will enjoy this no doubt. Solid fun story line with tons of well played out action scenes, good bad guys and a twisty turny plot that keeps you guessing. Cool stuff. And this movie comes in Widescreen and Full screen versions so ignore the person below who simply purchased the wrong one.
Although not my absolute favorite, classically...this is another one of my all time favorite sci-fi action movies. In fact, there are not too awful many Arnold movies I don't like. I basically grew up on Arnold movies from about the time I was in 6th grade. Terminator 2 is, hands down, my absolute favorite, but this one is pretty awesome too. I remember that the first time I saw this movie, some of it use to scare me a little...especially where they begin to turn into aliens and all that. Haha. That obviously doesn't bother me anymore, but in general...this is a very well convieved science fiction idea, although we all know that humans turning into aliens or mutants within in the Mars atmosphere is bogus, but it was still a cool concept...and the alien device thing that came into play in the end was pretty awesome. It was shot pretty well for it's time too, and having been put onto blue ray, the experience is even better. I upgraded this title to blue ray for a mere $10, and that is a pretty awesome price if you ask me. This is a great movie to have on blue ray...one of a list of very select titles that I wish to upgrade to blue ray for now, seeing as how most blue ray movie right now are somewhat expensive. I am looking to just upgrade some of the more explosive & action packed sci fi, epic, and action movies for now...as well as some of the newer, awesome sounding/looking movies as of late. The day blue rays drop in price I may start collecting other titles on blue ray, but for now...mainly just the really big and more important titles in my book. The transfer to blue ray on this movie was pretty good. Though it didn't sound quite as good as Terminator 2 on blue ray, (Total Recall being only my 2nd movie on blue ray so far), it still sounded pretty awesome none the less, and visually the movie turned out pretty decent. I recommend this movie to anyone if you haven't seen it, and definitely on blue ray to any of you who are familiar with it and enjoy it. It's a budget title, so it shouldn't be too awful hard or expensive to acquire. I haven't checked out the features yet, though I don't believe there are too many, but no matter...it wasn't like it cost me $30-$40. Check it out people! Below are other great, classic Schwarzeneger titles I recommend for Blue Ray...amongst others.
