Overall, I'm very glad that I bought this set for our 18-month old son because we have a built-in DVD player in our car (therefore my son insists on watching DVDs whenever we're in the car). For this reason, it's very nice to have lots of different options so we're not playing the same few DVDs over and over again. I like the DVDs in this set overall, because they're "gently" animated from classic children's books (as opposed to high-tech digital animation). Since I can't read books to my son while I'm driving (obviously), this is the next best thing. There are some DVDs in this set that are a little weird to me, but my son seems to love all of them.
By the way, the DVD from this set that is the BEST is the one called Chrysanthemum. And the stories on this DVD that are the BEST are Chrysanthemum, Owen, and Monty (my son is OBSESSED with Monty!).
Here are the stories included in the set (sorry, wouldn't let me put in list form):
Alligators All Around; Angus and the Ducks; Antarctic Antics; Apt. 3; The Beast of Monsieur Racine; Blueberries for Sal; Burt Dow: Deep-Water Man; By the Light of the Halloween Moon; Cat and Canary; The Caterpillar and the Polliwog; Changes, Changes; Charlie Needs a Cloak; Chicka Chicka Boom Boom; Chicken Soup with Rice; Chrysanthemum; Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type; Corduroy; The Cow Who Fell in the Canal; Curious George Rides a Bike; A Dark, Dark Tale; The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash; Drummer Hoff; Elizabeti's Doll; Five Creatures; Flossie and the Fox; The Foolish Frog; 14 Rats and a Rat Catcher; Georgie; Good Night, Gorilla; Goose; The Great White Man-Eating Shark; Happy Birthday, Moon; The Happy Lion; Harold and the Purple Crayon; Harold's Fairy Tale; Harry the Dirty Dog; The Hat; Here Comes the Cat!; Hot Hippo; How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night?; In the Night Kitchen; Is your Mama a Llama?; Joey Runs Away; John Brown, Rose and the Midnight Cat; Joseph Had a Little Overcoat; Keeping House; Lentil; Leo the Late Bloomer; A Letter to Amy; Make Way for Ducklings; Monty; Musical Max; The Mysterious Tadpole; The Napping House; Officer Buckle & Gloria; One Was Johnny; Owen; The Paperboy; Patrick; Pet Show!; Peter's Chair; Picnic; A Picture for Harold's Room; Pierre; The Pig's Wedding; The Rainbabies; Rosie's Walk; Smile for Auntie; The Snowy Day; Stone Soup; A Story, A Story; Strega Nona; The Tale of the Mandarin Ducks; The Teacher From the Black Lagoon; Teeny-Tiny and the Witch-Woman; There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly; The Three Robbers; Time of Wonder; Trashy Town; The Trip; The Village of Round and Square Houses; Waiting for Wings; What's Under My Bed?; A Weekend With Wendell; Where the Wild Things Are; Whistle for Willie; Who's in Rabbit's House?; Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears; The Wizard; Yo! The pictures are preserved throughout the series, so it is as if you were reading the book line by line page by page. In a few stories, the words appear on screen and are highlighted-in case you have a hard copy of the book, you can follow along. You can turn this option off, if you don't want it.This would make an excellent gift, as it is educational, and allows your child exposure to language and the pleasure of reading.

A lot of my 3YO daughter's favorite stories are shown here. There is some variety in production value, for instance Curdory is a live-action film, whereas Make Way for Ducklings pans the story book pages with no animation, but my daughter doesn't seem to care. It's a great value (up to 4 stories per DVD) and I'm comforted knowing I can control what she's watching and for how long.

I first purchased this set for my children two years ago. We began slowly with Corduroy, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and the like. It has only been recently, however, I have truly begun to appreciate these DVDs. They are wonderful bedtime stories for the entire family. An added bonus is that all of the books are AR test books. We read the book and then watch the video to absorb the material through a different outlet. Has really helped with AR tests and bringing my 7 year old boy back to reading. Highly recommend.

I wanted to buy it...but the description doesn't say what books are included or whether they are "read along", so I passed.
