MGM/UA has done a decent, if less than spectacular job with this title.

Highly recomended viewing of the Holocaust.

If I could recommend only one movie about the Holocaust, this would be it. As a historian of world war II Germany, I have seen them all and only this one strips the Holocaust of its mythology and shows it like it really was, with all its humanitity and its inhumanity laid bare without sentimentality. You will come out of this movie with a better understanding of the emotions and motivations of that period than with any other movie of the genre.
