I'm a little confused as to why so many people thought this was a good movie. In my opinion the books were great (the latter books more so than Twilight I must say), and while I'm not optimistic enough about movie adaptations to actually expect them to approach the depth of the storyline that a book can hold, I was hoping it wouldn't be TOO bad. But, come on, let's be honest, you know the movie was an epic train wreck.
Everyone's bashing Kristen Stewart so I'm gonna do her a favor and give her a break. I will say one thing though. I was hoping she would do a better job at trying awkwardly to be alluring to Jacob when they walked on the beach, but again, I suppose I shouldn't hope. Anyway, how about we get on to Rob Pattinson? The guy was horrible for the role. He was creepy and awkward and had a slight lisp. And was he even trying to achieve somewhat of a velvety voice, or did he realize that it was a lost cause and just decide to cut his losses? (Velvet does not equal raspy.) There was nothing graceful or perfect about him, his features, or the way he carried himself. I'll give him one thing though, it's difficult to tear your eyes from his face, but on the downside I think that's only because there's something awkward about it that you can't quite put your finger on. And there's nothing to be said about the perfect body he was supposed to have. Not exactly an Adonis. Personally, I think they chose him for the role because he's British and Americans tend to love the Brits. But guess what? Edward was born in Chicago. And Chicago is in AMERICA. But I digress.
Another thing that got under my skin about this movie was the plot, of which there was none. To say that they didn't stick to the book is a ridiculous understatement. I wonder how anyone who hadn't read the book first wasn't sitting there completely confused. It was more like a scrapbook than a movie. They threw in some direct quotes from the book, patted themselves on the back, then continued to butcher the story. It was like looking at a science project that was hastily put together the night before it was due. Train wreck. But hey, at least they didn't use the word "incredulously." Not once.
Why is Bella "unconditionally and irrevocably" in love with Edward? Who knows? But Meyer didn't really say why in the book either, so I guess I can't bash the movie for the one thing it remained consistent on.
The vamp makeup was pretty bad too. They looked more like paste than marble.
Edward's glitter-covered skin kind of annoyed me. I thought they might do a better job than that.
I realize I'm ranting now, but I don't really care.
I wish Alice had more of a role in the film, she's the one person who actually convinced me that they read the book.
James was better looking than Edward. Fail.
The baseball scene was pretty good, so kudos there. Emmett was pretty funny, so kudos there. Jasper was pretty funny too, but not in a way that he intended to be. (He looked cramped the whole time.) Rosalie successfully got on my nerves, so kudos to her too. Carlisle and Esme were not very memorable.
It's really not even fair to blame the failure of this movie on a tight budget. I have two words: THE MATRIX.
In closing, I'm looking forward to a parody of the film. It's practically BEGGING for Tina Fey's magical touch.

Until the movie, I hadn't even heard of the books...at least not that I can recall. I went to see it in theaters, not expecting much...and was absolutely floored. I loved the scenery; it was breath taking. I thought that the sound track and score were put together quite nicely; the music complemented what was going on in the different scenes. I was riveted by the tension between Bella and Edward's characters, I can't think of anyone better for either role; the chemistry was fantastic. After seeing the movie, I read the book. I can see why fans of the book were disappointed...there were a number of scenes from the book that were simply left out or edited. And I was personally disappointed by the lack of development of the friendship between Bella and Alice...Alice is such a great character...but the movie doesn't portray that well. I definitely think that the movie is worth seeing, and owning. I also suggest watching the movie before reading the book, its actually quite good and I think I would¿ve missed out on that if I had read the book first.

Okay i am a HUGE fan of the books but lets be serious the movie was a joke!! They didn't put in the most important parts from the book into the movie! Edward in the movie was well... creepy! not hot, didn't have a velvity voice, and walked weird, not gracifully! I for one hope that they redo this movie again with a new director, producers, and cast members. Except for the ones that played Rosilia, Alice, Bellas dad, Emmett, and most of the kids that played Bellas friends/class mates in the movie. I'm looking foward to New Moon coming out into theaters and I hope that with a new director this one will be much better!!!!

Like everyone else I loved the book and hated the movie. Kristen Stweart in paticular was painful to watch. The makeup and hair for the vampires was laughable and they spent too much time on the scenery than on the story. Visually it was beautiful but the dialog was terrible. No one completed a sentence and just made statements at eachother. Why are Bella and Edward in love? From the movie..I DONT KNOW! What a waste.

Books are always longer and contain more details than a movie ever will. I usually watch the movie first and then read the book, so I can visualize the characters more as I read about them. After I watched the movie, I went out and bought all four books and didn't stop reading until I had finished the last one. I look forward to the other movies. It should be interesting to see how they turn out.

A twist on a classic love story, the Twilight Saga had an exceptional story and passable writing technique.
Then the movie came out. Simply watching the previews made me realize that they had turned the books into a cheesy, gothic soap opera.
My thoughts were only confirmed when I saw the movie. The acting was terrible. The chemistry was terrible. The storyline was torn to pieces. IT was not a good movie, I do not recommend it to anyone who enjoys quality films and I will not see the rest of the series.

There are way too many details omitted. I get that you can't put everything in and must edit to fit into a two houf film (this is shorter), but whoever wrote the script left out the good parts! The scene when Bella and Edward went out for dinner was a revealing and riveting part in the story. In the film, it was completely without the nuances and the mystery. There was definitely tension in the book - two teenagers falling in love for the first time - racing pulses, hormones erupting and yet it was all so innocent, it kept us coming back for more. I couldn't wait to read the next book and find out what happened next. This movie left me feeling like the script was lacking in details - it was too sketchy and I feel the actors definitley have more potential than what was seen in this film. Rob Pattinson and Kristin Stewart seem ok together - but their perfomances were only as good as the script and the director. The books are definitley better. I would, however, see this again - maybe sit there with my friends and decide how exactly we would make the film better - At least Rob Pattinson is easy on the eyes!;)

Twighlight is one of the best movies ever. The way it mixes romance, and exitement is superb. All the visuals were outstanding, and the script was so perfectly written. The plot was outstanding, and unforgettable. The actors, and actresses did such a good job with the filming of the movie. All I can say is this movie should be nominated for something great.

Obviously not as much as the book... That's a given. <BR/>Though I loved the WAY this movie was shot. I do feel that they kind of rushed it a bit more than they should have. <BR/>Just like any good book come movie... REAL fans will sit through another half hour to see a movie closer to the book (Think LOTR, HP). <BR/>I really hope they realize this while making the second movie. <BR/>I really do like the casting choice for Bella... But I do feel that Edward could have been cast much better. Sorry, just not buying Cedric as a sometimes scarey vamp.

I wish the extra sceenes had not been added to this movie. If the 2 sceenes where James, Victoria, and Laurent were hunting, and the one where Edward carries Bella through the trees to a breathtaking view of Washington had not been created for the movie, there would have been more time for more of the actual book sceenes. I really would have loved to see the part about the blood typing in biology class. <BR/><BR/>I certainly hope there are no "CREATED" sceenes for the second movie! I for one would happily sit through a longer movie to include more of the book. I am a firm believer that if the sceene survived the editing process of the book, then it should survive the editing process of the movie.

The script could have been written so much better. I could have forgiven that but Bella was cast wrong. A better unknown actress should have been chosen. Although the vampires including Edward were nicely done. I hope for the sake of the book fans out there and for me that New Moon comes out better. Although the previews show Kristen still lacks the abilty to sound natural and every word and emotion sounds and looks forced. Read the books you won't be disappointed. The best books I've read in a very long time and I read a lot!

You can really tell that Robert loved playing Edward. And you just wish that someone would love you the way that Edward loved Bella.This book and movie is not just a love story, it's a love story with a twist. When I saw the movie it was just like the book, but more of a visual on what everything was like.

I loved it! I went to the midnight release party at Borders. It was ok...(i'm talking about the party...) (why didn't Barns and Nobels have 1!)
I love when you see all the Cullens for the 1st time! And when Bella comes to meet the Cullens. It's so funny!

When given such a small budget, I think the first movie was done very well. The parts were well cast and the actors made me believe they were Edward, Bella and her father. Jacob was too babyfaced to me. There was a hokey "falling in love" scene in a field of flowers, but the rest of the movie was great. My bookseller friends and I loved the cameo of Stephenie Meyers in the diner and the father racking his shotgun in anticipation of meeting Edward. Too funny. The look Edward gives Bella in the hospital, telling her "Where would I go?" was what all women long for from a man. True romance.

WOW. This movie was so bad it's crazy! Kristen Stewart can't act and people like to think that Robert Pattinson can act because they think he is cute. Wow, the movie was so horrible. First off... when he shows his skin in the light you pretty much have to lean close to the screen to see that he is, in fact, sparkling. You really can't even see it. Second, when Bella walks into the class room "Edward's" acting was horrible. People even laughed in the move theater on how dumb he looked squirming around in his seat like that (that isn't how I imagined in the book). There are many other reasons but the last one I will give is on how Edward bit Bella. That was the worst scene in the movie. Honestly. It was just horrible acting. I feel sorry for the other actors who where good actors and were stuck in such a horrible movie. But on the plus side. The only good scene was when they played baseball.

The movie has taken several actors and made them the true characters from the book. You will want to read the book it runs pretty true and has several lines included in the movie. There is quite a bit added that isn't in the book, but it doesn't take away from the movie. You should read the additional books in the series. Looking forward to November when New Moon is said to be released.

Not many have upset me as much as Twilight did. I understand it they had to cut a lot out due to timing issues, but the scenes they did portray could have followed the book more closely. Very few characters matched the descriptions in the book. The wigs all looked unnatural. Stephenie Meyer was so descriptive in her book series, it's appalling to know that she completely sold out. The members of the crew would ask her advice before changing something and she went along with the change. For something that she seemed so passionate about, it's not much like what she wrote about. In my opinion, it should say a movie LOOSELY based on the book series by Stephenie Meyer. The character names were right, but everything else was twisted.

IF YOU ARE A TRUE FAN OF THE BOOKS,YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPOINTED IN THE MOVIE...IT DOESN'T FOLLOW THE BOOK AT ALL..EVERYTHING IS CHOPPY AND RANDOM, NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AT ALL...YOU CAN'T IMAGINE WHY BELLA & EDWARD FELL IN LOVE AT ALL... ALL THE WONDERFUL ROMANTIC TENSION IN THE BOOKS WASNS'T THERE AT ALL ! THE ONLY CHARACTERS THAT PLAYED THE PART TO A TEE FROM THE BOOKS WAS ALICE, BELLA AND JACOB.
