David Lynch's prequel to his cult television series "Twin Peaks" concerns the last seven days in the life of Laura Palmer Sheryl Lee, whose plastic-wrapped corpse, found floating in a river, was the fulcrum for the television series. During the day in the town of Twin Peaks, Laura is a top honors student at the local high school. By night, she is a sex-crazed cokehead, prostituting herself at a sleazy sex club to get money to feed her drug habit. Her race to oblivion is fueled by her father, Leland Ray Wise, who, as his alter ego Bob Frank Silva, has been sexually abusing Laura since she was a child. But Laura has an attack of conscience when she realizes that she is leading her best friend Donna Moira Kelly down the same rocky road. Leland, however, discovers Laura's nocturnal debauchery when, during a business trip out-of-town, his mistress for a sexual tryst sets him up with his own daughter. In a fit of jealous rage, Leland follows Laura as she travels to a sex party in an abandoned railroad car. Consumed by insatiable longing, Leland transforms himself into Bob, with tragic results for Laura and her friends.

Barnes & Noble - Gregory Baird
The banal and the bizarre are exquisitely intertwined in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, David Lynch's prequel to his groundbreaking TV serial, Twin Peaks. Darker and more violent than its TV predecessor, Fire Walk with Me follows the last days of Laura Palmer Sheryl Lee, a small-town Oregon high school student whose murder -- and its subsequent investigation -- provided the main tension in the TV series. The film reprises a number of main characters from the show, including FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper Kyle MacLachlan, whose offbeat good-guy persona bound the series together. But Fire Walk with Me is ultimately Laura Palmer's story, and Lee gives a riveting performance as a teen torn between innocence and lust who is victimized by a mysterious sexual abuser. A plethora of eccentric characters swirl around Palmer: Their similarly fractured psyches provide fodder for the director’s characteristic exploration of unspeakable secrets lurking beneath the mundane fabric of small-town life. Lynch's outrageously strange vision, rife with dream symbols, is perfectly complemented by a haunting score from his regular musical collaborator, composer Angelo Badalamenti. The result is an intense, head-spinning psychological thriller -- darkly sexual, breathtakingly enigmatic, and quintessentially Lynchian.

    Lynch is on Fire!

I viewed this film last night and was blown away. The feature is definitely a Lynch classic in my mind. The film has all the Lynch elements; suspense, humor, music, intense visuals, and much much more. I've seen my fair share of Lynch films and have discussed his work widely, but for some odd reason, this film fell through the discussions. The film is a prequel to the television series, which I've yet to see. I didn't know what to expect from it, especially since I hadn't heard much about the film. There is a Blue Velvet'esque quality to it, in the sense of the feature being a mystery, but unlike some of Lynch's other films, you can actually follow the story. I was suprised at the long range of cameos, including Lynch himself playing a Deaf FBI agent. By the end of the film, I was extremely satisfied and am glad I made time to watch it, I'm definitely interested in watching the Television Series and can only hope that it would be just as good, but then again it is Television and this film is definitely a rated "R" picture. Check it out, you won't be disappointed...

Diane, this is a damn fine film.

Twin peaks,Fire walk with me, the prequel to the best tv show ever ,is a film you eather like or dislike. A lot of critics hated the film back in 1992 when it came out.Now 13 years later some say it is one of Lynch's best.It is one of the most unike films i have ever seen.If you have seen the series you know underneith the smalltown of Twin peaks is something very ugly hidden. This movie shows it.In full glory.A must watch for Twin peakys an Lynchfans. The haunting music by Angelo Badalamenti is to die for to.I think this film is also a sequel to the series in a weird way. Performances, specialy by Ray wise and Sheryl Lee,are outstanding.Cooper,Kyle Maclachlan, returns to,only a short apperance though. But this is Laura Palmers story, the nightmare is no longer hidden. This is not only a film, it is a feeling. Briliant.

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

After watching this, I was shocked and suprised at the same time. This is the worst movie ever but it did give some answers as to how she died and I'm not sure if it said why she died and what happened to the witness Ronette Pulaski when later in the show she would be in acoma. We then see Laura and her so called life during the day but night its different. The movie was disturbing and don't like it at all including gross.

    One Of David Lynch's Best!

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me is a great film to watch if you've seen the TV show and are a fan of it. If not, you will probably be lost. The film is a prequel to the series, in which we see the week leading up to Laura Palmer's death. The acting is excellent, and Lynch once again shows us what a great director he is. Fire Walk with Me should be watched along with the rest of the Twin Peaks series. I highly recommend it.
