Finally, the series gets the due it always deserved. Fire Walk With Me is finally included, and reverently, along with deleted scenes so good they're like brand new content all these years later. All of it, even a lot of the older extras, look amazing in the new transfer and sound incredible in the new audio mix. Twin Peaks always feels fresh to me - it's so loaded with details and ideas - and now I find myself noticing new things visually because so much texture and nuance has been restored. I can even see, in many occasions, the waver of light from the celluloid. It's really something. Every episode is as if I'm watching for the first time; entire shots looks newly composed now that I can take all the finer elements in. And the film, already beautiful, is the best it's ever looked. It's almost like Twin Peaks was waiting to truly come to life now that home systems can recreate the clarity with which it was shot; it was ahead of its time back then for television and nearly for decades on the substandard quality of DVDs. As if that wasn't justification enough for the price, nearly every special feature put on the vastly inferior past releases has been transferred and in some cases in new HD transfers at extended lengths. Plus new features, which are well done and in one case mandatory viewing: Between Two Worlds has an abstract, hypnotic first look at what the new 2017 series may include. Even the packaging is stellar, artistic if somewhat impractical, and construes a wonderful unified whole, making the set perfect for long-time fans and newcomers alike. lastly, please pay no mind to the one-star review with the audio sync issue: this is not a fault of the boxset, but of the consumer. I initially had sync issues as well, but after adjusting my television and player it went away completely and the sync is 100% accurate. For PS3/4 owners, you need to go into your console's Video Playback Settings and disable 1080p/24Hz output (this does not affect resolution, it still outputs in full 1080) and you're keen. I'm not claiming to be an expert on the technical specs here, but this is one of the only Blurays I have, so my hunch is that Twin Peaks fans are dedicated and bought Bluray players specifically for this set, and when encountering this kind of error for the first time assume it's exclusively on the Twin Peaks boxset as a flaw - the truth is that this can happen to many Blurays, and the finnicky playback setting I outlined is both the root and solution. Anyway, this is one of the coolest, most elaborate bluray sets I have and I'm very happy that Twin Peaks is finally represented well for posterity.
