Overview

With an outsized passion for fun, Jennifer Paterson and Clarissa Dickson Wright take cooking and conversation to places where ordinary food shows dare not go. These eccentric dames criss-cross the British Isles on their Triumph Thunderbird motorcycle and sidecar, preparing sumptuous feasts for all manner of folks, from lumberjacks to teenage lacrosse players. They shun faddish, health-conscious fare in favor of big, old-fashioned flavor -- usually enhanced by bacon, cream, and butter. All the while, the ladies hilariously hold forth on every topic under the sun, often bursting into song as the spirit moves them. Their generous wit and lust for life remind us that fine cooking -- like fine dining -- always goes better in good company. Join Jennifer and Clarissa on all 24 of their adventures, from a Benedictine abbey to the Brazilian embassy. As Jennifer would say, "Quelle treat!" Two Fat Ladies originally aired from 1996-98 on BBC Two, and then came to the U.S. via Food Network and PBS.

A must for all-things English Lovers

I was thrilled to receive my volumes and have watched them over and over again despite having done so also when the Food Network used to run their show. Wonderful locales all throughout the United Kingdom and hilarious without trying - I love when they cook rich food for the little children at the Pony Club and then later wonder if they might have poisoned them :-)

    Delightful &amp Humorous

Of all of the cooking shows on the Food Network this is my absolute favorite. Jennifer's wit foiled against Clarissa's clever and interesting stories was perfection . The locales they travel to on each show are charming, beautiful and interesting . The dishes they create are unique and wonderful classics. Sadly , Jennifer has past away . She was an original and a treasure. They were the Abbott and Costello of the foodie world. Throughly entertaining on each level. I highly recommend the show and would give it 10 stars if I could. Brilliant !!

    Classic viewing!

Such a joy to have them at our fingertips. Raw and entertaining and highly educational...Clarissa and Jennifer are good friends to us all. We love the scenery and the people as well. It is such a plain and well crafted "cooking' experience without all of the faux, scripted production values formatted into today's regular food channel fare.
    Huzzah! They're back!

This cooking show is fun and adventurous. Each episode Clarissa

This cooking show is fun and adventurous. Each episode Clarissa and Jennifer go to different locales and field trips. You get to see honey being spun, a butcher's shop and much more. I have made the strawberry/ raspberry shortcake and it was wonderful. Recipes are great.
