Urban Legend

( 10 )

Overview

Though adding little that is new to the teen slasher genre, Urban Legend is well crafted, and was successful enough to spawn a top-grossing sequel. It is also the type of film likely to be popular party viewing for many years, and Columbia TriStar's DVD edition should satisfy even the most demanding horror enthusiasts. The widescreen enhanced picture is nothing too special, but the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track is unusually good, maximizing the suspense by emphasizing every threatening nuance of the soundtrack. ...

The widescreen enhanced picture is nothing too special, but the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track is unusually good, maximizing the suspense by emphasizing every threatening nuance of the soundtrack. The special features on the disc include extensive filmographies and the surprisingly appetizing original theatrical trailer. The behind-the-scenes featurette is brief at only six minutes, and is probably inferior to the trailer. However, the feature commentary by director Jamie Blanks, screenwriter Silvio Horto, and cast member Michael Rosenbaum is good fun. Though they discuss background and shooting in only cursory fashion, the good-humored banter between the three makes it consistently enjoyable listening. Urban Legend may not be the greatest piece of cinema ever made, but this disc markedly improves the film for home viewing.

    A Very Classy Thriller

Two years after SCREAM came out (1998)... this terrific slasher/mystery was released. A very classy and engrossing thriller that benifits from a top list of people behind and in front of the camera. Cast includes Alicia Witt, Rebecca Gayheart and Jared Leto (amongst many others). They turn in terrific performances and look fast for some very effective cameo's. Film was directed with style to spare by Jamie Blanks. Watch out for some of those camera angles. Terrific. The score was by Christopher Young of HELLRAISER and HELLRAISER 2. He returned to his horror roots and scored a very propulsive and energetic horror/thriller score. Well worth you time and money.

    This Movie is awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this movie on a cable channel and i just loved it, i liked the part where the killer kills the blonde girl, and the part where she kills the blonde guy. The ending is awsome, although they sould of put the ending in the begining, that would og been like the killer was actually telling the story, Anyway i loved this movie!!!!!!!!!!!

    Urban Legend: A great Movie!

This movie was a great movie with an even greater surprise ending. It has a little bit of everything...gore, suspense, horror, and originality. Overall, it was excellent.
