Overview

One of the biggest American hard rock bands of the 1980s and '90s, Van Halen scored a fistful of hit singles and produced a number of classic videos to match, which are featured on this DVD release. The images have been transferred in their original 1.33:1 full-frame aspect ratio, and the audio has been mastered in PCM Stereo. The disc does not feature subtitles, though the videos have been closed captioned. No bonus features or additional material has been added to beef up the DVD edition Van Halen: Video Hits, Vol. 1 from the previous VHS release, but the improved sound and picture quality (as well as the ability to quickly access individual songs) will doubtless make it a worthwhile purchase for fans.

A must-have video collection from one of the greatest bands of all time. It showcases the band at their best. The videos ''Panama'' and ''Hot for Teacher'' shows the band at their funniest. ''Poundcake'' just shows that boys will be boys. I'd have to say this is one of the best videos and the most powerful song Van Halen has ever done. Powerful in terms of rhythm, guitars. It's a real party song. ''When It's Love'' and ''I Can't Stop Lovin' You'' shows the band at the time when they were starting to mature. ''Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do'' shows the really serious side of the band and this is a video that will really touch you. It is the most powerful video on this set. It is very intense and thought-provoking. My only complaint about this collection is that there isn't a video for ''Dance the Night Away.'' Perhaps there never was a video made for this song, but it would've been good to make one. While the videos with David Lee Roth are cool, I like the ones with Sammy Hagar better. The band really works well together with Sammy and the spotlight is not on just one person.

Why isn't ''Pretty Woman'' video on here? And the band could've spiced things up by releasing some of the early Van Halen performances that were filmed live for Don Kirshner.
