If you thought Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus was the final word on the galactic battle between the sexes, think again. In the far future, the dueling empires of Tarak (all male) and Mejale (women only) are setting the cosmos ablaze with devastating combat and hilarious misunderstanding. Amidst this tumultuous backdrop, lowly ranked engineer Hibiki Tokai tries to prove his worth by stowing away in a Tarak flagship bound for the front lines. Instead, a series of misadventures finds him a captive of the dreaded enemy, who turn out to be nothing more than a band of cute female space pirates who have never seen a member of the opposite sex before. Viewers who find the adolescent comedy and premise of this 13 episode show slight can take refuge in numerous spectacular space battles, created in part with stunning computer animated effects. As with most Pioneer discs, sound and picture are first rate. Extras include text-less opening sequences, promo clips of battle scene highlights, and character line art. Volk Lindsay
