    A reviewer

The story line of VANTAGE POINT is a brief one: a summit meeting on terrorism aimed at addressing the differences between the Arab world and the Western world is taking place in Salamanca, Spain and the arrival of the President of the United States is greeted with assassination attempts, terrorist explosions, and car chases. The difference in this thriller from the many others of the same genre is the use of telling the story from at least five different vantage points - the news reporters (Sigourney Weaver, Zoë Saldana and Staff), the CIA (Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, et al with William Hurt as the President), a group of terrorists, an American bystander with camera (Forest Whitaker), and the viewing public. Things are not as they initially seem and the more times the story is rerun through repetition of the incident, the more information is added. Based on a story by Barry Levy and directed by Pete Travis the film could become tiresome in its use of repeated reruns, but given the quality of the cast and the twists and turns as the 'plot' is further elucidated makes the story more of an investigation of Intelligence forces from all involved countries and drives home the reason 'terrorism' is so terrifying. Some of the peripheral cast members are particularly fine - Bruce McGill, Edgar Ramirez, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ayelet Zurer, and Eduardo Noriega among others. It is a film that takes patience on the part of the viewer, but staying with it until the end results in some very fine entertainment. Grady Harp

    WOW,blown away I was!!

Ok, first of all, I don't like complicated plots where I have to think and scratch my head, I mean...I want to be entertained and spend a couple of hours to unwind, right? This movie didn't do that for me but amazingly, I loved it!! A couple of reasons why: this movie is well built,it is constructed in a very clever and patient way. Yes, the viewer HAS to be patient but the movie DELIVERS and by the way, even if you do not get everything at first, I swear it is good to watch...Seriously, the car chase is one of the best scenes and that's coming from someone who has seen a lot of them! Also, I thought the acting was pretty good. It is charged with emotions and yet fast paced so you aren't bored. Some scenes are repeated but they serve a purpose(obviously). I liked the fact that the truth was played out in so many different ways. And then, you have the twists and turns(highly entertaining) which makes the viewer watch the movie absolutely on the edge of their seat...This movie doesn't offer solutions to the political problems of today, neither does it try to which is interresting to me after all, why should it? Hollywood entertains and in this particular movie, it did it well. I'd say if you're in the mood for a good thriller mixed with intense action and a great car chase, this is it!!Enjoy!!

    (POV) Point of View.

This was very good. A favorable review: this was great action, violence, and suspense. Vantage Point, with Forest Whitaker, S. Weaver, and Dennis Quaid, this was a real treat for action, suspense, and mystery fans. Eight strangers, or are they strangers? Eight strangers see the same event, yet from different points or different angles in the event and trying to unravel the truth leads to a riveting suspense/mystery. Great action and thrills should keep most viewers transfixed. With some car chases and action violence this is a winner for high drama.

    I Also Recommend:

THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT!!! SEEING AN EVENT FROM 8 DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES IS EYE OPENING!! A MUST FOR ANY ACTION ADVENTURE VIDEO LIBRARY!!

I saw this movie with my son on Paris Island without any intel to work with. After the first view point, we thought that was a short movie and had to reload when it backed up and took another view.
Dennis Quaid was awesome from all angles.
Forest Whitaker fit perfectly as a By-Stander innocentley video taping a vacation.
Sigourney Weaver is still "the action woman", evil and beauty "looks" at the same time.
The ambulance racing toward the girl and the car crashes are spectacular.

    Coign of Vantage

I rather liked the political thriller &quot Vantage Point.&quot The repetition of the movie's story from the different points of view of the main characters affords the movie a nightmarish quality. It's like you have to keep reliving a nightmare over and over making it that much more hellish, the tension mounting with each reliving. You feel trapped with no escape. You know what's going to happen and there's nothing you can do about it. The strands of the plot come together plausibly when the ambulance careens toward the little girl on the street, and in the ensuing violence and car crashes the story is resolved satisfactorily.
