Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
The Veggie Tales cast serve up a family-friendly computer-animated take on the New Testament’s Passion play, with variations inspired by Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. A sequel of sorts to the Veggie bunch’s Star of Christmas, An Easter Carol introduces plastic-egg purveyor Ebenezzer Nezzer, the richest man in town, who plans to erect Easterland on the site of the local church. That is, at least until visions of Easters past, present, and future come hopping down the bunny trail to persuade him that doing so might result in an egg-on-your-face condition that will endure for eternity. Christian Music artist Rebecca St. James guest-stars as the voice of Hope, a music-box angel, who opens Nezzer's eyes and heart and rekindles his beliefs. With crisp writing, warm and whimsical songs, and a Python-esque penchant for silliness over sermonizing, Veggie Tales offers food for thought for families seeking faith-based programming that does not trivialize Easter.
