The relatively unknown British noir piece, Wanted for murder is now available on DVD from Image Entertainment. Unfortunately, like many films from this time period, the transfer is less than stellar. The video, presented in full screen, is grainy, with noticeable scratches abound. The mono soundtrack is available in Dolby Digital, but doesn't fare much better. The relatively unknown British noir piece, Wanted for murder is now available on DVD from Image Entertainment. Unfortunately, like many films from this time period, the transfer is less than stellar. The video, presented in full screen, is grainy, with noticeable scratches abound. The mono soundtrack is available in Dolby Digital, but doesn't fare much better. A noticeable hissing mars most of the audio, and the score comes across as tinny and grating. These problems most likely aren't from the actual transfer, but the original negative. Noir lovers probably can overlook these faults, however, as the film is certainly viewable. As for extras, the original trailer is included, as is a collection of still photographs. The trailer suffers from the same faults as the film transfer, but is interesting nonetheless. Although be forewarned, watch it after you see the movie -- it gives too much of the plot away. Overall, an interesting film that perhaps one day can receive a better transfer.
