War File: Battlefield - Air War Over Germany
As an episode of the war-themed television documentary program Battlefield, War File: Battlefield - Air War Over Germany details the various components of the WWII Allies' air-based assault against Nazi Germany. The program commences by underscoring the fact that the Allies (led by the U.S. and Great Britain) sought to weaken the Nazis by crushing civilian morale for the Reich and aggressively interrupting the production of German war supplies. Their overall strategy involved carrying out a Strategic Bombing Campaign over Europe; while successful, it also killed thousands of civilians and Allied soldiers, prompting a tremendous amount of controversy from observers and critics. This program profiles the military and governmental personnel responsible for the campaign, the strategies employed during the air war, a discussion of the weaponry and strategies involved, and much more, while positing the entire conflict in the larger historical framework of World War II.

I am a big fan for the Battlefield series, and the recent availability of a new & quot to me& quot title was a pleasant surprise. So I am sorry to report that & amp quot Air War Over Germany& amp quot falls far short of the standards set by its predecessors. Padded with repetitions & quot ex. Bomber Command's leadership succession was presented four& quot !& quot different times& quot , loaded with inaccuracies, and marred by ommission of important parts of the campaign & quot ex. barely a mention of the role played by Allied escort fighters, or lack thereof& quot this title should be avoided by & amp quot Battlefield& amp quot collectors. If you need to see a documentary on the bombing of Germany in WWII, chech out the chapter & amp quot Whirlwind& amp quot on volume 2 of the still unsurpassed & amp quot The World At War.& amp quot
