When William Cleary Christopher Walken, the nation's Secretary of the Treasury and a possible candidate for the Presidency, announces his daughter is to wed, the nuptials are billed as the social event of the year, and Jeremy and John decide they must attend the reception. However, John makes the mistake of falling head over heels for Claire Rachel McAdams, the bride's sister, while Jeremy attracts the attentions of a woman he'd prefer not to be involved with, and soon their romantic peccadilloes get them in very hot water.

After gaining notoriety in indie films, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn have become two of the most reliable comedic talents in Hollywood, part of the "frat pack" that also includes Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, and Wilson's brother, Luke. With that, Wedding Crashers is the kind of movie that sells itself with a mere mention of the title and its two stars. That it more than delivers on that comedic promise is a happy surprise, and it truly earned its box-office success. Wilson and Vaughn are John and Jeremy, respectively, two committed 30-something bachelors who spend their summer weekends lying their way into strangers’ weddings. Their goal is bedding bridesmaids, and they are very good at it. We see John and Jeremy score repeatedly at every manner of nuptials, no matter whether the principals are WASPs, Orthodox Jews, or Hindus. This first third of the movie, which climaxes ahem with a montage set to "Shout." the Isley Brothers' perennial reception favorite, may be the most riotously funny 40 minutes of the decade. The film takes a turn when John and Jeremy crash the wedding of U.S. Treasury Secretary William Cleary’s daughter and fall for the bride's two unwed sisters. John becomes smitten with Claire Rachel McAdams, 2005's It Girl, who is seeing an Ivy League thug Bradley Cooper, while Jeremy sets his sights on Gloria Isla Fisher, who may be totally nuts. Of course, since Christopher Walken plays Secretary Cleary, this should come as no surprise -- but Walken plays it as straight as any role he has had for the past 20 years. Things get more complicated than an episode of Three's Company when John and Jeremy are invited to spend a weekend at the Clearys' summer home, where they must survive the most violent game of touch football ever played and contend with the advances of Secretary Cleary's wife Jane Seymour and art-damaged son Keir O'Donnell. Uninhibited by the constraints of a PG-13 rating, Wedding Crashers plays it loose and bawdy, recalling the anarchic spirit of '70s comedies like Animal House and Caddyshack. The film loses its early edge near the end, but Wilson and Vaughn remain charming throughout, easily carrying the film over its inevitable "speak now or forever hold your peace" threshold.

Having worked with both Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in other movies, director David Dobkin clearly understood how to combine their comedic skills in Wedding Crashers. Wilson's laid-back openness meshes perfectly with Vaughn's remarkable ability to be simultaneously totally selfish and incredibly loyal. The film opens with a rather long montage that shows how the pair act at the various expensive weddings they crash, and this sequence does nothing more than reveal behavior. There is no plot at this point for the audience to be taken in by. Dobkin feels such confidence in his performers and in his material that he takes his time while never sacrificing quality funny moments. The audience understands both of these guys so well by the time the plot kicks in that Dobkin can mix big set pieces (like a family dinner with outrageous behavior happening both above and below the table) with more intimate scenes between the characters. There are storylines that dead-end, most specifically and alarmingly the casual disappearance of Jane Seymour from the film after her big scene, but the sharp editing, confident pace, solid story structure, and winning performances by the leads (as well as Isla Fisher and Rachel McAdams) made Wedding Crashers one of the most enjoyable Hollywood comedies of the 2005 summer season.

    Quickly one of my list for comedy favorites

    My wife and I went to this in theaters and both loved it. We have seen this movie many times and I still look forward to it everytime we put it in. The dialogue and the interaction between Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson is hillarious. I hope they get paired up again soon. Don't rent, just buy if you ask me. Awesome movie if your in the mood for an adult comedy.

    OMG!!

    Wow. This is the funniest movie I've seen in a LONG time...just bawdy, outrageous humor. And in 2006, it's hard to be outrageous...I am still in shock. Definitly a keeper! That redhead chick will make you FALL OFF THE COUCH WITH LAUGHTER!!

    Hilarious!!!

    I have never watched Vince Vaughn in any movies and was never much of an Owen Wilson fan. However, this movie had me laughing from beginning to end. The comedic performances of Vaughn and Wilson were absolutely rip roaringly hilarious that it just kept you wanting more. The charismatic energy that Vaughn conveyed to his audience was utterly captivating. Best of all, I loved how every character's quirkiness and weirdness built on each other like a domino effect. It really added dimension to the storyline and didn't depend on one actor to carry the whole movie. "Wedding Crashers" is not just about two men having a good time, but it's also about family, relationships and making the right choices towards happiness as seen in their eyes.

    In a Bad mood watch this and you'll feel better before you say quail hunting

    Wedding crashers is the funniest flim of the year! Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are at their best. I saw this in the movie theaters when i was having the crappist day ever. The best medcine for a horrible day is seeing Wedding Crashers. It made me laugh , cry, laugh and piss in my pants it was so funny. Rachel McAdams is the perfect girl for Owen Wilson. The rest of the cast is wonderful. I won't spoil the movie but kudos to Wedding Crashers. If you having the crappist day ever i recommend not taking zoloft but a dose of Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in the Wedding Crashers.
