Overview

Love is in the air thanks to a magic potion whipped up by an imaginative student in this playful independent comedy with music. Timothy Tanner Cohen is a bright young man who is attending an upscale private high school, Morgan Hill, thanks to the hard work and sacrifice of his mother Judy McLane. Timothy is also gay and doesn't care who knows it, which doesn't make him popular with his classmates; his closest friends, a girl nicknamed Frankie Zelda Williams and her boyfriend, Max Ricky Goldman, attend another school. Timothy has a serious crush on Jonathon Nathaniel David Becker, but Jonathon isn't interested in boys, to Timothy's chagrin. Timothy is cast as Puck in the school's spring musical, a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and inspired by his character's machinations, Timothy tries to recreate the love potion used in the play. Miraculously, Timothy arrives at a formula that actually works, and after accidentally dousing Max and having to fend off his advances, Timothy sprays Jonathan with the concoction and soon has the boy of his dreams. However, before long Timothy's magic potion gets loose, and things get very lively on campus, among both the students and the teachers. Were the World Mine was the first feature film from director Tom Gustafson, and won the Audience Award at the 2008 Torino International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

    Extraordinary!!

This film was a hit at several independent and gay/lesbian film festivals a couple summers ago... It's sort of a riff on the plot of Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream"... but in a musical setting! A young prep school senior, with an unrequited crush on the school's rugby team captain, is drafted to play the role of Puck in the school's upcoming production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream"... in the course of learning his role he discovers a recipe/spell to create Cupid's love potion... and hilarity ensues!!
The musical score is fresh and original, the performers are attractive and engaging, and they all dive into this quirky and surprising story with gusto... I highly recommend this film, as a departure from the ordinary! A sweet romance, and a very original vision!!

    were the world mine

"Were the world mine" is a great movie for an escapism for some people like myself who would want people to understand how they feel and see things of sorts. though a bit cheesy at times, and some of the acting could have been better, but all in all, a great fun movie to watch with friends and I would recommend to others as well!!

IF ONLY THE WORLD WAS MINE

THIS IS A WONDERFUL MOVIE. IT WOULD BE AN ASSET TO ANYONE NEEDING HELP COMING OUT. WHAT IF... EVERY ONE COULD WALK IN OUR SHOES. JUST FOR A FEW DAYS TO SEE HOW THE OTHERS HALF LIVE AND WHAT OBSTACLS ARE PUT IN OUR PATHS.
JUST A RESPONCE TO THE OTHER REVIEW THAT THOUGHT THAT SOME OF THE SETS WERE CHEESY AND THE ACTING WAS NOT GREAT.
THIS IS A PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL. IF EVERYTHING WAS PROFESSIONAL, A DIFFERENT STORY LINE WOULD HAVE BEEN VIEWED. YOU WOULD COME AWAY THINKING OR NOT, MORE ON THE PRESENTATION (SETS, COSTUMS,ETC) THAN THE STORY. IT LOOKED LIKE HIGH SCHOOK KIDS WORKED ON THE SETS, WHICH IS WHAT I THOUGHT THE DIRECTOR HAD IN MIND.
NOTHING AGAINST WHAT YOU THOUGHT, THIS IS MY THOUGHT.

    The magic is alive

In this movie the lines between old and new, good and bad are made to come together and mesh and meld into a harmonious picture of what is right and wrong and what can still be better. In this wonderful and heartfelt movie we come to the conclusions that life is not as simple as abc or 123 and we learn that in the end all that truely matters is love and what dreams may come if the world were ours

    :)

We got the chance to watch this movie in my 9th grade Honors English class because we're studying Romeo and Juliet, and let me say this is one of the cutest movies ever. The guys are cute, the dialogue is funny, and overall it's awesome. I DON'T, however, recommend this to anyone who has trouble with the topic of gays, lesbians, etc, being this movie is based around being gay. Overall, 8/10

Hilarious and On The Mark !!!

I first saw this movie on the LOGO channel, and I knew I had to have it for my collection. All of my friends who have seen it, have laughed themselves silly! A great "Walk in my shoes for a while" movie, where the spirit of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" comes to life. The magical daydream sequences were quite effective, adding a nice musical touch. For all LGBTQI people and their family and friends.
