This hard-to-describe movie, which combines talking-head documentary footage with a fictional narrative, attempts to explain quantum physics in terms most audiences can understand. The extent to which it succeeds will largely be the extent to which a viewer grasps the complex theories being addressed in those terms. Does matter exist? Does time flow in one direction? Have we determined that there really is a universe, or could it just be a construct of our feeble minds? A procession of physicists, philosophers, and medical professionals grapple with these questions, but their answers are often obtuse, elliptical, and far from conclusive. Intercut with their musings is the story of Amanda Marlee Matlin, a photographer with many questions about her own existence. The simple act of attending a wedding reception makes her uneasy: are all these people dancing in a hall, or are they simply bouncing through space and time? They seem to be enjoying themselves, but are they? There's no point in pretending that everybody will find this movie equally engaging and provocative; the constant musing and speculation will make some viewers restive. But the filmmaking team of Mark Vicente, Betsy Chasse, and William Arntz has succeeded in crafting a movie that is wholly original, and those who possess patience and intellectual curiosity in equal measure will be mesmerized by it.

    Outstanding!

    Wow, this movie is so completely eye opening! I have watched it at least six times, and every time I re-watch it, I actually do learn something new! It is steeped with thought-provoking questions regarding science and spirituality. There are a couple of "cheesy" spots in the show, parts where they did not want the audience to fall asleep. In addition, I strongly do not agree with a certain part near the ending, and it is hard to me to describe without giving the movie away. (Let us just say that the main character wakes up on a park bench near the end of the movie, and what she does after she wakes up is what I have a problem with.) However, overall, I think it sparks one's imagination, which is invaluable these days, over and over again! This movie is for anyone and everyone who has ever thought that there MUST be more going on in this world - in this life - than what is right in front of them. I HIGHLY recommend this film to everyone!

    I began my journey into finding myself several years ago when "The Secret" came out, and I have been on a journey ever since. I found this movie just recently and WOW its amazing. The interviews and information presented here make you realize that your the one causing all your conflict and misery, not anyone else. YOU are to blame for the way your life is not anyone else. It has opened my eyes wide open and I have begun to accept the responsibility of my thoughts which dictate how I experience my daily life. All you have to do is really pay atention to what your actually thinking and feeling, and when you are experiencing something that is not pleasant change it, turn it around, because your the only one who can truly make yourself happy. No one else on this Earth can do it for you. That is what all of us must realize. This is an eye opening experience, I recommend watching it over and over many times so pick up what you might have missed the first, second or third or more times you watch it. It is powerful and life changing if your willing to accept the responsibility and take charge of your own life. Good Luck and God Bless!

    What We Think About, We Bring About

    This is an excellent and empowering movie that will assist you in becoming the master of your own destiny! Thoughts are extremely powerful and you are constantly attracting situations and events into your life (good or bad). You must first take responsibility for your conscious and subconscious ways of thinking in order to start creating your day, as mentioned in the movie. One of the things that I enjoyed most about the movie was the reference to Dr. Masuro Emoto's groundbreaking studies of water. What has put Dr. Emoto at the forefront of the study of water is his proof that thoughts and feelings affect physical reality. By producing different focused intentions through written and spoken words and music and literally presenting it to the same water samples, the water appears to change its expression. Essentially, Dr. Emoto captured water's expressions. He developed a technique using a very powerful microscope in a very cold room along with high-speed photography to take pictures of newly formed crystals of frozen water samples. Not all water samples crystallize however. Water samples from extremely polluted rivers directly seem to express the state the water is in. Dr. Masaru Emoto discovered that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward them. He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. The implications of this research create a new awareness of how we can positively impact the earth and our personal health. Now, consider the fact that humans are composed of around 70 percent water! From Dr. Emoto's work and other extensive research, it becomes very clear that our thoughts, attitudes, and emotions unquestionably have an enormous effect on our body's internal environment.     This was not meant to be a serious discussion on the math side of Quantum Physics!

    I think the only important point to take away from this movie is that perception is everything! The movie is not trying to take the place of anyone's believe, merely causing you to THINK about who you are, where you are going and how you affect other people and the world around you.

    Agreed - Philosophy & Religion Masquerading as Science

    I was given this and looked forward to a journey into the edges of what we know in science. Instead the author's message boils down to, "we don't like what the science is telling us, so it must be wrong" and "we don't have all the answers yet, so we can believe what we want to believe". If you believe the Earth is 5000 years old, man has been here since before the dinosaurs, and the universe was created for our express benefit, you'll probably buy into this bit of wishful thinking, as well.

    A great introduction to some breaking science, based in science

    This movie was based in scientific study and theory, and made a point to say that the whole point of theories are to be re-checked again. I think some people who have reviewed this negatively have become a little disconnected from the general public, and are a little too wrapped up in perfection. As any teacher of science knows - you can't hit perfection at the first introduction. Plus, not everyone will be able to pick up a book like the elegant universe and understand it. For others in America (as our last election proved) religion is a major thing for them. The fact then that this has tried to explain something modern and complicated to the masses deserves praise. This movie is a welcome break into the mainstream of DVD culture, and I was glad to see it at blockbuster. Religion was a tool to help this explanation in this movie, however, I did not find it overly biased with religion, and I wouldn't consider myself that involved in religion. Most of the 'religious' talk simply said the basics - such as if you do good things to others, it'll effect theirs and your own life positively. I don't find that overtly biased. A good portion of movie was factional and not based so much in theory (when talking about the functions of the brain for example, and the studies of atoms). There are also quite a few reputable scientists in this production, including a former head of the national institute of health. Many others were PHD holders at major institutions. This re-release of the original movie comes with extended interviews and scenes which lets you almost have a discussion with the people and challenge or ponder their research with more depth. There are also quite a few new scietific experiments and pieces of evidence which differs from the original version. My only complaint was that you could not see the titles of these people as they spoke in the movie - instead you had to wait until afterwards.

    Anything that makes you think....

    ..has to be good! This film literally awakened me one night after we'd fallen asleep with the telly on. I was so intrigued, I purchased the original film. My hub and I are both medical pros, and we question everything. This began a new "era" of questions for the two of us, and I recommend it to anyone who is searching for their own truths and has the courage and determination to never allow themsevles to be "controlled" by others' expectations. Create your own life and live to be YOU. This film is inspiring, to say the least. I strongly recommend it for those who are courageous in spirit and disciplined in mind.

    Complete fabrication

    First off: there is absolutely no scientific basis for the claims that they make in this film. The real experts interviewed for the film denounced it after their interviews were drastically edited and rearranged to make it seem that they confirmed the frankly ludicrous beliefs of the film makers. And the "experts" whose interviews weren't edited have highly dubious qualifications, including a self-proclaimed psychic. If you want some light entertainment, fine, but the concepts that they supposedly explain are fabrications, not fact. If you want education find something by a real scientist.

    Total Garbage

    A friend took me to see this junk when it was out at theaters in Portland, Oregon and I had to bite down on my tongue to keep from laughing out loud (thats not a compliment). A few weeks later a story appeared in the Willamette Weekly that showed the film for what it really was ---cult propaganda. Im pretty sure Willamette Weekly provides past news stories online for everyone to read and let me tell you my mouth dropped when I read the background information on all the so called experts that appear in this piece of crap---Marlee Matlin shame on you!!!

    Fraud

    I certainly appreciate any valid attempt to bring difficult scientific theory and complex discussion into a framework that is more comprehensible to those of us with a passion for the truth, reality, and the beauty of existence-- and no math degree. The difficulty in explaining the theory of relativity, particle physics, or even international relations is often oversimplification to the point of meaninglessnes. Stephen Hawking has done a decent job of treading this razor's edge in his work. Carl Sagan is probably the preeminent figure in this regard. I highly recommend any of their work if you want the depth of natural reality explained as best we know it at this time in the simplest terms. I cannot, however, recommend this film. There are a few nuggets of truth buried within it. Unfortunately, many theories are twisted into complete fallacy and drenched in unproven nonsense. It brings hard science down to the level of astrology, yeti hunting, and UFO rides for the sensually deprived. Anyway, if you already believe in all that.... then you should buy this movie. If you are trying to grasp some of the most fascinating and difficult concepts in physics for your children or yourself, please read, or watch, elsewhere.

    Refreshing

    This film is a pretty cool movie that makes your brain do a little bit of work, though keeps you entertained so you don't feel like you're sitting in a classroom listening to a lecture. A lot of the ideas expressed in this film are theories, with many "What if's," "Why's," and "Maybe's." The theories are based off of current scientific knowledge, but there really is no way for us to prove that these theories are right or wrong. The point of this movie is not to get you to prove what's right or wrong, but to give your brain a nice, refreshing exercise. I recommend this film to anyone over that age of 18. (It's not a dirty movie, but it does have some sexual references that I would not recommend for children.)

    Chances are....you've wondered about at LEAST SOME of this stuff at some point in your life...

    This film, of course, as most films, is not for everyone...but if you have ever "hated your body", "felt something was missing in the life you are living" wondered "What the Hell am I doing here?" well...then you are going to find something interesting, intruiguing and entertaining about this movie. If you have asked any of those questions, there are scientists here that will focus on those questions. You need not be a full-on intellectual to be fascinated by this film. Do-be prepared to learn something about the way you look at your body...Do-be prepared to feel curious and to let your curiosity push you further.

    Regardless What You Believe - It Makes You Feel Good

    I really don't care if the history is completely accurate. I really don't care if the special effects aren't top notch. I really couldn't care less about the acting. What matters to me is that the movie made me think and question and feel better about myself - because it reminded me that I have the power to create my own reality and path. Sure, we all know this, but sometimes many of us forget and just allow things to happen to us - and then complain that our lives are in turmoil. All I know is that after I watched the film, I felt better than I had in a long time. And that, I think, is what a a film is supposed to do.

    Psuedoscientific nonsense

    This movie starts with a specific worldview (We can alter our internal chemistry / biology and the world around us by our emotions and outlook). It then contrives a pseudoscientific approach to explain this dubious claim misapplying and distorting concepts of quantum physics and biology. It is hard to convey how painful sitting through this is. I highly recommend you do not attempt this at home!

    Stepping Stone

    I watched it twice, and thought it to be another way of looking at myself, and what else there is to look at in this world that I have and will continue to know. I am not a Quantun Specialist but it does have a nice approach and if I am lucky, I'll learn to understand the smallest things life has to offer are larger than any mountain time can create.

    Empowering

    This movie fascinated me. I was impressed with the way they illustrated the difficult concepts of quantum theory and the metaphysical without getting bogged down too much. The wedding reception scene was a bit much in certain moments, but other than that, I loved this movie. It attempts to answer questions I've had my whole life and even mirrored certain experiences I've had that were unexplainable. This movie really empowered me. Keep an open mind when watching it.
